We can talk about congestion all day. but the reality is we already know the solution to efficiently transport people around. it all boils down to getting cars off the road and out of our cities. but Malaysians are not yet able to even imagine a life without cars.

Blaming LRT Kelana Jaya Line disruptions on "aging trains" doesn't make sense The oldest unrefurbished LRT sets (4-car Bombardier ART 200) only started service in 2009 Current 2-car sets were refurbished in 2012 Meanwhile, Vancouver Skytrain has sets dating back to mid-80s

Recent service disruptions on the Kelana Jaya LRT line were caused by ageing trains that need to be replaced, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said. The ministry has begun procuring new train sets, with most expected to arrive within the next two years. 🧵1

If I don't see RapidKL holding a press conference in the next 24 hours, they are not serious about this matter Tell the public what was the exact issue. Having 30+ trains taken out of service over 5 days is not a good look for anyone in RapidKL, especially the maintenance team.

@pengesanpenipu @rahah_ghazali that is a press STATEMENT, not a press CONFERENCE unless they tell us exactly what happened for each incident in that press statement instead of a vague PR "do not worry, nothing to see here", IMO that's nit enough

@oscarcsims I find the design of HKMTR stations to be much better because they did do this even with their cavernous station (to maximise area that can be sold as on-top-of-MTR developments)

@oscarcsims Underspecced trains (read: overcrowding), lack of retail options on a cavernous station (unlike NSEWL/NEL), ~50% of stations are in the peripheries with no rerouting of local buses, and how little the new lines actually reduce overcrowding on NSEWL.

@Natcromancer I really REALLY hope they messed up and meant to say $5-7 roundtrip and not PER trip. And also what's wrong with implementing the same system as My50 but in Johor Bahru? My50 never cover non-Malaysians tho.

SGD 5-7 (MYR 15-22) one way is kinda steep and will doom prospects of any real improvements in Causeway congestion At the very least it should be: SGD 5 per trip from Woodlands North MYR 7 per trip from Bukit Chagar
BFM News@NewsBFM

Fares for the new Johor–Singapore RTS Link are expected to range from S$5 to S$7 per trip. Transport Minister Anthony Loke told Sin Chew Daily that monthly passes and discounts would be difficult to implement, as Malaysia will not subsidise Singaporean commuters. sinchew.com.my/news/20260213/… 🧵1
