I cannot stress how much this anime staff simply understands it. Ts not just an adaptation it’s a complete expansion of the story 😭

Cut lines, upscales that don’t understand the characters CT that will affect the future story since Uro and Ryu live, and Yuta permanently copied Uro’s CT. Lots of cut character dialogue which has never happened in jjk they only cut narration before. New choreography misses the calculation and smart thinking of the characters shown in manga.

@explodingtv The reason I say butchered is cuz they missed what made this fight special and unique. This fight was sophisticated in the manga, it understood the time limit and urgency. The anime doesn’t and the “upscales” are only going to lead to more changes that affect the plot.

@slanderpiece Butchered is an exaggeration. Ryu’s interruption makes sense knowing his desire to fight yuta. That extra bit adds further tension to the fight to give anime only the impression that despite yuta’s connection with rika, he could “possibly” lose due to constant pressure

If you read the manga you’d realize the 3 way was butchered. In the anime yuta is switching opponents Willy nilly wasting his timer, goes 2v1 with Rika against uro and Ryu instead of splitting into 1v1 giving them time to setup big attacks like Uro’s ground quake. In the manga yuta doesn’t let up pursuit of Uro until Ryu interrupts for the 3 way domain. This fight lost all sophistication. The moment where yuta let’s go and beam clashes doesn’t even hit cuz all the calculation of his fighting is gone in the anime.

@ShadzMangaOnly Not really, Yuta states in the manga that rct is instinctual to him. He’s probably the 3rd best user of it. It legitimately came easier to him than Gojo

This shouldn’t even be a conversation, fuck mappa man. I’m not being grateful this time.

Another reason this change is bad is because it messes with or established conditions of the fight. Uro avoided fighting Kuro due to her CT requiring her to get in close and lacking large area of effect. The new additions of projectile TIB that she shakes the ground with against Ryu and yuta alongside the wide range ground shake nullify these gaps in her combat style thus diminishing the cohesion and attention to detail that was in the manga version of the fight.

People are really sheep if they think this isn’t dumb af. Everything we see her move with her CT is surrounded by sky, (punches, beams, ECT). She even goes as far as to specify she controls the SKY. The ground isn’t surrounded by sky so she should just be pulling the sky away from the ground without moving the ground. Even if she could manage to affect it I doubt she could do it to the degree to lift multiple buildings and cars.

Everyone is anyways so happy with mappa changes but am I the only one that finds Ryu’s hair overheating and needing to be combed back for use is dumb as hell? For context anime only’s he looked like THIS prior reincarnation. I’m pretty sure homeboy could use his technique without the yeeyee ah haircut. #jjk #jjkep59

It’s a binding vow where she promises to never swing a sword again for increased power. How much increased power is hard to say since Kenjaku and Uraume could block it but binding vows are historically strong in jjk.

Nope! But I don’t blame you for thinking that. In the manga TIB is used solely as a close range strike with Uro’s hands hovering the surface of air between her hand and opponent. All the infinity user would need to do is output their infinity further away from their body which we have seen Gojo do. If you thought Uro could bypass infinity that’s Mappa’s fault for adding in projectile TIB’s and having her wobble the ground instead of sky.

Looking over further Rika is drawn with more shadows during the panel about the timer and this visual change is more clear in the anime. I can see the other side but when they are removing and adding lines it’s gonna rub me the wrong way regardless.

I can admit the scene is hard to read and follow on the manga. Rika closes her eyes during the text about the timer which leads many to believing this was a visual queue of the connection ending but Rika is shown fully manifested without her eye open earlier.

Except it is a retcon. In the anime it is clearly shown that Yuta’s 5 min’s run out. However in the manga no timer is shown. Instead the words “would end” are used not “ended” the text is to remind the reader of the timer didn’t end and rather Ryu’s blow forced Rika to her limit. They use the words “even when completely manifested” not “even if”. The blow is stated to have caused her to reach her limit. This is a massive Ryu and Yuta downscale and a really big change that is a scary precedent for JJK. #jjk #jjkep59

I’ll go further to say that the community was never in complete agreement about this situation. The anime has a new line from the narrator along the lines of, “Five minutes. Okkotsu connection to Rika was severed.” And the removal of the lines about Ryu’s blow to Rika tricky make this feel like a Retcon even if there is a chance this was the original intent. But I just don’t see it that way, if it was intended to be viewed this way in the manga why so many unusual wording “would” and “even” instead of “was” and “if” as well as the inclusion of the lines about Ryu’s blow while the manga is absent of any lines highlighting the end of the timer. It’s too much to be a coincidence, it’s a retcon.
