FIFTY FOUR people died due to heatwave in Telangana on Tuesday.
54 deaths!! In ONE single day.
17 people in Warangal district, 14 people in Khammam district, seven in Karimnagar, six in Nalgonda, five in Adilabad, two in Nizamabad, one in Mahbubnagar, one in Medchal and one in Siddipet district succumbed due to the prevailing heatwave conditions.
One of them victims was a farmer who was at a government procurement center waiting for his paddy produce to be bought. 39 year old Yellender Reddy collapsed while getting his crop weighed. He couldn’t be saved.
In Medchal, 50 year old Ahmed Arif was driving his auto since the morning. Around noon he couldn’t take the heat, so stopped taking trips and slept in his auto. He never woke up.
In the last four days TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY people died in Telangana alone due to heatwave.
220 lives lost!!
And government is yet to call it an epidemic. Because it is the Sun that is killing, a convenient act of God.
220 deaths in one single state. No one knows what is happening across the country because no one is even bothering to collect the data.
Meanwhile, World Health Organisation just yesterday declared “Ebola” a Public Health Emergency of International Concern because 220 people died due to the Ebola virus.
Why is that the 220 deaths in just one small state of India not even a national news? A headline? Not a public health emergency?
What I fear is the mortality figures must be equally bad or worse in other states of India, just that we don’t have the data to prove it.
We live like cockroaches and die like cockroaches….burnt to crisp in the heat.
Because our governments will keep chopping off forests & trees.

ONLY FROM TELANGANA. Again! If 166 people died from a single state in four days, due to fever or infection or illness- we would have called it an EPIDEMIC! But since it’s just heatwave, the government is not even trying to do anything. Am sure numbers are higher or equally bad in other states of India too. This news doesn’t even make it to the headlines in any media also. Climate change is real and the culprits are governments that are mercilessly destroying forests and trees everywhere. If you still don’t want to question the environmental policies of your governments, you are writing your own death sentence. These deaths aren’t normal and they didn’t happen overnight. These are a direct consequence of government policy failures. I don’t think Telangana government is doing anything than giving a climate warning press release by the Metrological department 🙏🏽

51 people died in ONE SINGLE DAY!
And it is not even the main news anywhere!
This brings the total to 107 heatwave deaths in just three days. At least another four more days of heatwave conditions are expected.
Highest number of deaths were reported from Warangal yesterday. 23 deaths were from this district alone.
Temperatures are touching 42 to 46 degrees in Telangana.
Imagine if 51 people died in a single day in a flight crash or a road accident or a stampede or a bridge collapse - we would have all been angry.
With heatwave, we all tend to accuse the Sun and move on.
Heatwave isn’t act of God.
It is a direct result of mindless tree chopping our governments are doing in the name of development.
