@Caro_Zalt It is an issue every community has and also why, even though I really enjoy many communities, I tend not to be too involved just because of the radical and narcistic side of them. I think you handled the situation very well as a creator. It's a bummer that it happened though.

Hello, Caro here. This whole mess is finally winding down. Thank you for your support and protection. Since I have posted another announcement in Chinese yesterday on other platform, Just as promised in that announcement, I will also translate this announcement into English to ensure transparency and use it to announce the end of a phase. But first, I want to clarify some rumors again. This is the last time, or at least I hope it is the last time. ================= I didn't remove 'Gay', tag on Itch tag,  I just replaced to 'LGBT' to include both G (gay) and B (bisexual), making the tag better reflect the actual content of the game and reduce any misleading impression,  and they take it as a sign that I have betrayed the gay community and that I am about to add romanceable female characters to the game, and start attacking me. And I need to remind people: the game's main page on Itch has always said M/M.  That means Male/Male. Gay men are Male, and so are bisexual men. So please don't misunderstand M/M as exclusively 'gay' while ignoring bisexual men again. ================= And then, here is the translation, here we go ↓ Hello everyone, this is Caro. To avoid any arguments, let me reiterate from the start: as I've always said, Tavern of Spear will be no M/F or F/F romantic content in the game. (Don't bring up the lizardman spy and his wife—you know what I mean.) You've already seen my previous post. I'm adding this one to take the opportunity to say a few more things. As one of the focal points of the conflict when it broke out, I admit that I acted emotionally and made some PR mistakes. But even if I had wanted to add more context at the time, it was nearly impossible for me to speak up while being threatened. It wasn't until my previous statement that I finally began to settle the emotions I'd been holding for three months. My overreactions over the past few days have directly or indirectly hurt some of my fans—that was never my intention, and please allow me to apologize. However, I reiterate: no matter how my emotions may have affected my actions, my stance against radical gay extremists will not change. Before explaining my views, I truly want to thank all the fans or bystanders who spoke up for me or offered support. Thank you for reaching out to me and listening to my thoughts during that time. Your understanding became the strength and support that got me through those three months of silence. Those of you in China and the Chinese-speaking community are especially precious. Even if you couldn't speak out directly, your various forms of help made me realize you are not a small minority. Therefore, I absolutely do not want other fans to engage in attacks like regional discrimination or nationality discrimination. Ultimately, it's a small group of madmen making most of the noise. This post is aimed solely at those who engaged in destructive behavior. As for the accusations that I was biased and deliberately hid things from the international community—I've actually posted both the original Chinese announcement and its translation on X a while ago. There was no concealment. This statement will also be uploaded to X after translation. First, let me explain my silence again. Some people claim I was just making excuses about being threatened by government censorship, saying that those people had long been dealt with by moderators. But in reality, people like Zhang Fa and Mi Lu De Long have been highly active in the community all along, even gradually becoming the outspoken leaders of that radical gay group. I simply couldn't feel safe, so I chose the most conservative response: silence. In my view, these people are not only masters of double-dealing and self-contradiction, but also extremely childish and emotionally unstable. Even if they back off, it's only because of pressure and condemnation from others, which they then use as an excuse to absolve themselves. Let's go back to the beginning of this whole matter. Regarding the scattered remarks I made on Weibo after Shan Yao Jun was attacked—earlier, some people had already used Tavern of Spear to stir up trouble, demanding that all characters must serve and please them. My stance has always been that characters should have their own personalities, and we shouldn't ruin a character's narrative charm just to cater to someone. That's what I've said before: I will not let the story derail from its intended path just for fanservice. Creators and communities choose each other. That's my insistence as a creator. A creator has their own creativity as an independent human being—they are not your own items. It just so happened that Shan Yao Jun was attacked because of BG content. I was worried some people would again use Tavern of Spear to make a fuss, so as a preemptive warning, I once again explained what I had already said three years ago: that many of the characters in the game are bisexual. During this, someone asked me, "So girls can play the game too?" My response was: I don't have the right to restrict anyone's freedom to play. It's not like I can teleport to your house, snatch your phone, delete the game, and say, "You're not allowed to play Tavern of Spear." But my other stance is also very clear: I do not welcome any behavior that pollutes the community, claims territory, or engages in sectarian attacks, regardless of whether it comes from radical gays, haters, or any other group—regardless of gender or sexual orientation. I hate the people who engage in such behavior. If the behavior you're talking about actually exists, I will not hesitate to speak out against it. "Tavern of Spear exists first and foremost for its own players." That will always be my principle. Right after that, the girl who asked me the question was attacked by radical gays for supposedly "invading and claiming territory." She fought back, and her response was taken out of context and widely circulated. These radical gays have repeatedly used rumors to counter my clarifications, just to keep venting. I have now posted the full detailed timeline and their rumor-mongering tactics on Weibo. If you want to know the whole story, please go check Weibo. (Or here: x.com/Caro_Zalt/stat…) After that incident, the Tavern of Spear subreddit remained relatively calm for a while. But then a flood of people who had never even followed the community poured in, and the discussion environment completely changed. Before we could even see any of the so-called "invasion and claiming territory" by other genders or sexualities, your endless doom-mongering had already destroyed the entire discussion space. You've projected your emotions onto the entire community—not just Tavern of Spear, but other creators as well, and even the entire furry fandom. Under the banner of "protecting the community," your content consists of nothing but endless warnings and insults. Other people's creative output goes unnoticed, and the moment something doesn't cater to your tastes, you attack it. Some of you treat creators as your slaves, throwing tantrums if the content isn't centered around you. You're essentially "Mala Xiānrén" (spicy male incels) at heart, criticizing "yì jiě" (certain female otome extremistsplayers) while using their own tactics to excuse yourselves. Yì jiě have been treated like dogs in their circles, so why are you upset when the same happens to you? You seemed proud enough when you invoked them as your defense. You keep shouting about how difficult it is for Chinese gay people, yet you're imposing that same difficulty onto creators in this circle. Endless subdivision, identity politics, witch hunts—if someone doesn't join your radical actions, you label them a "sān hǎo suì jìng" (weak or hypocritical coward) or a "shuāng chú" (bisexual mutt). But when you look back, what you've shown most isn't defense against external enemies, but immense hostility toward people inside the circle. You judge others based on identity politics, and at the slightest disagreement, you zero out their contributions. Your sexual orientation or creative preferences are just excuses—because deep down, you don't actually care about the community. You shout slogans of love and equality, but all I feel from you is crazy hatred and oppression. I find that just pathetic. You keep shouting about how difficult it is for Chinese gay people, yet you're imposing that same difficulty onto creators in this circle. You shout slogans of love and equality, but all I feel from you is crazy hatred and oppression. I find that just pathetic. Sexual minorities oppressing other sexual minorities—ha. Maybe some past negative events have made the community overly sensitive. But first of all, those events were limited in reality, and in any case, they are not an excuse for your overreactions and attacks on other creators. Your role models—the Mala Xiānrén and yì jiě—have gradually become hated by everyone by following this exact path. Today you can label someone based on identity, tomorrow you'll find another excuse. The things you say and do are no different from theirs. Gay men being ostracized? They've contributed plenty to that as well. You just swap the sexual orientation, and suddenly the behaviors you condemn become something you cheer on. Feels good to exclude other sexualities, doesn't it? "You're just straight people whose sexual orientation happens to be male." And speaking of your so-called "avoiding minefields," why are you unhappy with my voluntary statement? I said the same thing three years ago. The fact that it only exploded now just proves that you never actually supported creators or paid attention to the community. You were just "presumptuously expecting" things. What disgusts me the most is that you shift all the pressure in the community onto creators. As if creators are responsible for every injustice you suffer. You haven't solved external problems yet, and you're already starting witch hunts. It's disgusting. Some have called me arrogant. My response is: "I need to protect the players who are just playing and enjoying Tavern of Spear normally." Because the consequences of your actions and your witch hunts are there for all to see. I much preferred the fan creation environment before you got involved. Whatever your original intentions, you have in practice silenced creators and others in the community. As a creator, I certainly won't dictate who can only make content about X and not Y. Some say I was the trigger, that my sudden remarks caused this whole chain of events. But as far as I know, your behavior of venting without cause did not start with me. Every time something happens, I leave scattered records on Weibo—including but not limited to your troublemaking in many communities, and the earlier controversy over the threesome scene in Tavern of Spear. I've done my best to clarify the facts. Some might still twist them. For example, even though I stated from the beginning that the game would never contain BG content, Zhang Fa, who loves to invoke government censorship, still likes to play the game while secretly stirring up rumors that I will draw BG CGs. You succeeded in making me unable to speak for three months—I'm impressed by that, really. And let me emphasize again: if you're unhappy with my statement, I guarantee a full refund of all your sponsorship over the past six years. Even though I already put that information in my previous post and have processed some refunds, there are still plenty of people claiming that I won't refund those who don't support bisexuality under the comment. You are hopelessly blind. Doesn't this further prove that you love to take things out of context, set up imaginary enemies in your heads, don't care about the community, and just use flimsy excuses to vent your garbage emotions? Finally, this statement is still aimed only at the radical gay extremists ,which I would call them gay incel, who have been wantonly destructive. I cannot tolerate your behavior. And once again, thank you to the fans who still understand me after reading my statement. I'm also sorry for those who once supported me but have now decided to leave—that number so far is 21. Honestly, given my irrational and emotional statement, I expected that number to be higher, considering any random post attacking me gets over 100 replies. I'm also grateful to everyone who didn't fuel the conflict. Your rationality is the greatest help to creators. As for how I and Kul doing now—we're fine. We're busy settling into the new home and working on the next updates for our respective games. Thank you very much, and I wish you all the best.
