EFL Chief Operating Officer, Nick Craig: “The League want to see Sheffield Wednesday continue as a member of the EFL, but ultimately we have to also apply the terms of the League’s Insolvency Policy. “The policy, of which has been agreed with Clubs and is there to act as guidance for all Clubs and insolvency practitioners, seeks to balance the interests, not only of Sheffield Wednesday, but also of the other 71 Clubs in the EFL. “We remain open to continuing the conversations with the preferred bidders and the Administrators to try and find a solution that can see Sheffield Wednesday continue as a member of the League.” Much more context in full story here👇 thestar.co.uk/sport/football… #SWFC🦉

In the similar case of Derby County, their owner was owed £100m in loans but wrote them off to enable the club to have a fresh start. We are being threatened with punishment under the Insolvency Policy solely because Dejphon Chansiri won’t do similar

Thanks for all the replies and to those who read the piece criticising Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Manchester United’s co-owner has issued an apology/clarification (of sorts). He does not come out of this well. United, however, do come out of this well. Their statement was strong, starting...“Manchester United prides itself on being an inclusive and welcoming club. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is entitled to his views even if many disagree with them. What he is not entitled to do is embarrass #MUFC. What Ratcliffe is not entitled to do is make Carrick’s job more difficult by potentially upsetting some players, more than half from overseas... 1/2
