It seems like all year long I wish for a week of nothing to shoot, just so I can make a dent in the To Do Pile. Well now is the time. Aside from some weekend softball and a few possible studio shoots, I am clear for a couple months of editing and posting! Have a great summer!

Last night was the start of the Summer All Star Season for me. I shot 10U softball. Today another few teams. The majority of the kids are here every year. The next few weekends will be busy, but I do like seeing the kids again. A year goes by so fast!

Just starting to get back to normal. On April 24, I went with my son to watch the Aquabats and I got wrecked in the moss pit. Somebody torqued me pretty hard and by the middle of last week I could not turn my head. Fortunately it’s mostly editing right now, but feeling better.

55 kids getting trading cards for Tustin Western Little League. Not a small project, but worth it! Different designs for all 5 teams. Turned out great!

Let me help you visualize this. If I’m shooting a volleyball team or a baseball team. Those sports have three levels. Now take that and multiply it times 6 or 7 schools and you’ve got about 20 different schedules. I have to figure out how to get to all those games. Not easy.

Realizing that my last batch of posts are mostly whining. This is the only place I vent. I do enjoy it all, and I love what I get to do.

On the bright side I did deliver a bunch today. It could all be faster if I didn’t offer action items. A mom was perplexed that photos hadn’t been delivered yet, even though she ordered action stuff! AND the game I went to her son didn’t play. It ain’t easy I tell you.

Back from a short vacation. Disaster today as my older & main machine’s Photoshop locked up. Can’t use it. Switching has been brutal. Slow going. All my shortcuts are gone. Unfamiliar feeling. Going to be a tough week. Emails need attention.

Time for a walk. If you work on a Mac and have lots of stuff in your desktop, the worst thing you can do is hit command+ when you’re on a desktop icon. All the icons enlarge & scatter to rearrange themselves. I do it every few months, by accident. Absolutely horrible.

The game I was going to shoot today was canceled due to heat. I was going to shoot both sides of it. So now instead of one game, I have to find dates to shoot both of those teams, one visit turns into two! Rough day all around. I did edits & turned in an order for 14 T-shirts.

Shot EDHS v EHS girls lacrosse today. Two of my targets were out of action. Frustrating only because scheduling everyone is one of the hardest parts of the job. There’s still plenty of season left, but there will be shuffling!

I have 2 large cards of action to put on my external hard drive, but it is maxed out again. I hate deleting old files. Usually it’s stuff that’s been polished & uploaded online, but there’s also lots of unused stuff that’s has got to go. This summer I’ll thin it much more.

Long day at the track meet for Canyon. Quite a few other photographers there today. Someone said, “Looks like you’ve got competition!” The truth is I am paid to shoot the event and they shoot hoping people will buy photos, it’s called “Spray & Pray”, I don’t do that anymore.

Solid weekend of edits. Needed that. Still plenty to do but made a big dent. My A/C unit broke this weekend. Rough. Working hard to get team photos to yearbooks at various schools. Seems as if deadlines get tighter every year!

Loads since the last post. Did Valencia Swim Banners, my first time working for them. A MakeUp Night in the studio for a dozen kids. Shot action for Canyon V Volleyball, and then Esperanza Soccer at CIF. Today was Canyon Track, always my biggest shoot of the year. Ready for bed.

Gonna shoot my first softball of the year today, Esperanza at Yorba Linda. I have girls on both teams. Delivered Softball and Volleyball Banners to Eldo today. The Volleyball banner is 7 feet high 10 feet wide and arrived in a huge and thick industrial tube! Barely fit in my car!

Canyon Tennis team Photos yesterday. Pretty smooth, low orders for JV is disappointing. Polished all the Servite team photos as they need them for Yearbook this week. Gathered up Eldo action from winter for yearbook. I’ll polish those tonight.

Asked to rearrange a team photo to submit for CIF playoffs. Put three kids from JV and Frosh in the varsity photo and remove one player who quit. I found layered team photos on my daily backup drive. Since one was a goalie I had to reconfigure it to make it symmetrical. Boom!

I guess I should check my schedule before I tweet. I have El Dorado Volleyball Freshman and JV Team Photos today! If you’re curious, how many photos I took for three volleyball matches yesterday, just over 10,000!

Didn’t make a dent in the paperwork. Cleaned up & prepped 85 files for clipping, that lasted until 3am. This morning jumped right back on it and just sent the Centennial 17 for approval. SHHS & EDHS Softball both need work. With the rain, likely only shooting a makeup layer on.
