There’s only one thing to blame for why Mortal Kombat II is underperforming and that was the decision to delay the film from October to May. After that red band trailer, they had all the momentum for a breakout October hit, as it had zero competition until Predator Badlands. Instead they killed its momentum with a seven month delay. I understand the confidence, it’s a great movie but this was a mistake and I hope Mortal Kombat III still happens.
