Blade Runner 2049 is what I consider to be a visual masterpiece & one of the best films of the ‘10s. I love 2049 more than most. But with that said…I’m picking #ProjectHailMary. Maybe it’s recency bias on my part? But I think PHM is a generational film on multiple levels.

Which is a very specific sensory crossover, but that’s how memory works. Songs don’t just sound like things. They smell like places. They feel like a room. They drag a whole version of your life back into the present. What was yours?

Mine was “Young Lust” off the Pump album by Aerosmith. Every time those drums kicked in and that opening riff hit, and I caught that faint smell of fingernail polish remover in the air, I knew I was headed to my grandma’s for the weekend.

What’s the first song you remember hearing that had you in a complete chokehold before you even knew what that meant? Not your favorite song now. Not the “best” song. I mean the first one that reached into your little developing brain and was like, yeah, this is yours now.
