@filmlogkartmind @diandrasdiandra the writers (mark especially) definitely played into the real life dynamic of the actors which didn’t help anyone’s story either. i do genuinely wonder what the show would’ve been like, pre-drama or with a creator who wasn’t… him. not that i don’t love what we got, but still!

my thing with this is, brooke pursued lucas like a deranged person KNOWING from the start that he and peyton had whatever going on. she knew that from go, from season one. and then she wanted to act shocked everytime that something resurfaced. no, sorry, sympathy card denied

i’m someone who enjoys the angst & also knows that brooke does her fair share of messiness during it. specifically, some of the things she says to peyton. but lucas & peyton prove multiple times that they don’t care to hurt someone in the process of their games up until season 6

the quotes will never convince me brooke was the wrong one in this scenario when the show goes out of its way to show us that lucas & peyton are simply messy like that. in the time jump, they do the exact same thing to lucas’s new fiancé when brooke isn’t even a factor anymore

@ochuaao @luxlove97 @OTHdiary she wanted lucas the second she saw him, before she even knew that peyton also liked him. peyton had JUST broken up with nathan. then as time goes on, brooke even gives peyton the chance to confess those feelings. peyton denied them. i just really don’t think brooke was at fault

@filmlogkartmind @diandrasdiandra for sure! they wanted to give ppl something to he mad at brooke for to try to balance it out. which, sure, like i said, it is messy! peyton deserved to feel a little betrayed. the timing just felt so silly after eveything, & it didn’t really “wow” me in the grand scheme of things

@slshers @diandrasdiandra True.. I don’t remember her being v v drunk but I knew they were drinking. That adds a whole other layer of discourse around consent etc. and let’s be so real, mark/the writers went with that bs revisionist storyline I swear just to get people riled up lol

@diandrasdiandra then in the time jump, lucas & peyton screw over ANOTHER girl with their games. all the writers did was prove that they are indeed the messy common factors who get off on wanting each other whenever they can’t have each other… & then hurt someone else in the process of it

@diandrasdiandra like peyton was still reeling from her breakup with nathan when brooke became infatuated with him. then all of the s1 drama unfolds, brooke gives peyton the chance to confess her feelings. then peyton lies & basically prompts brooke to go for it as far as the earlier seasons went

@filmlogkartmind @diandrasdiandra like i’ll never pretend brooke didn’t do messy shit as a teenager. that’s what makes her character growth so good. but i’ll never be convinced that she’s as bad as leyton in this whole cheating scenario. especially when they do it again to a whole new girl in the time jump

@filmlogkartmind @diandrasdiandra they do add in the detail that they were broken up at the time. they still make brooke more decent than because they weren’t technically dating when it happened 😭 still a messy thing to add in, but brooke was also drunk out of her mind. lucas & peyton did that shit sober!

this franchise has always been one of my absolute favorites, despite its goofy entires (though i love a lot more of them than most people do), & i was excited that we were going to get more of it regardless. but to have actual faith in it being GOOD feels soo nice 😭

i’m genuinely so excited to see what curry does with texas chainsaw. especially with how much he’s been talking about wanting to make it character-centric. the character work in ‘obsession’ is so great, i can’t wait to see what he does with both the family & victims

@luxlove97 @OTHdiary peyton & lucas prove that they’re just homewrecking losers when they do the exact same thing to lindsay during the timejump. a situation brooke isn’t even a part of. peyton was terrible about communicating her feelings & waited until lucas was dating her bff to act on it

@OTHdiary the fact that she bullys her best friend and slaps her yet she everyone’s favorite character is beyond me, it only shows she knows from the start she has no chance but she still shoved herself between lucas and peyton, you put yourself in that situation brooke from the start
