if you are a curious engineer, it is so difficult not to have fomo.
every other domain seems interesting
every other book seems worth reading
every other problem seems worth solving
every other project looks like the next big thing
every other framework feels like something you should learn.
literally every single thing is a distraction. how do you even deal with that?

I cry with tears when I have to take an interview only to see the candidate fumble the most basic syntax.
I'm unsure if its AI but it feels like jr devs or devs in general aren't hands on coding much and I'm unsure how I feel about this.
An argument can be made that we don't need to memorise code anymore, but it just feels sleezy and boring talking to someone who cant code themselves.

Acid test from @naval to avoid fooling yourself:
“Would you still do it if you couldn’t tell other people about it? If you would, it’s real. If not, it’s just a social ego boost.”
