So let me get this straight- a bad person comes into my home tries to kill me - I kill them in self defense . Then I go out and find their house and kill everyone in their house - then I find where their families live - kill them all - and some guests who are there - Then I kill the guests families - then everything in the whole town - then everyone in the state - when does it stop being defense ?

On Friday I posted support for the LGBTQ+ community, Female Custodes, and Female Space Marines. There was a frenzy of nerd rage, slander, and threats. The net result: The rate of increase of subscribers on YT slowed for 24 hours, and I cleaned some bigots out of my feed! :-)

@wholemars There are other examples or negative group comparisons. Did you mock your friends for being “Jewish” is they were being thrifty, or call them “Mexican” when they were lazy? Using categories of people as an insult, insults the people. Just use a 1 of the 1k other insults for dumb

@wholemars So the problem is not that a person is offended by your use of a word, people are offended all the time by stuff. The problem is that you are saying your friend is bad or doing bad things…and how do you make this comparison? “Reterded” people are bad and your friends is one.

Retarded was one of my favorite words. I had a happy childhood of my classmates calling each other retards Nothing quite conveys the concept of sheer stupidity with such force as the word retard. Dumb, stupid… none of these words carry the same weight. Then one day someone decided that I can’t say retarded anymore, because it might hurt the feelings of someone who is actually mentally retarded. I didn’t protest, but it was a big loss to not be able to use this word anymore. I don’t get it. If you’re offended by the word retard then you’re probably not really retarded. I’m thinking of guys like Simple Jack. Does Simple Jack care that everyone knows he’s mentally challenged? No. Seems more about not annoying the parent than the actual person with the disability I hope one day my children, or my children’s children, can live in a world where they’re allowed to call their friend a retard in public without getting cancelled
