i love that zayne’s card was fake marriage, but the event stories are zaynemc’s real married life. Like how soon after entwined kites did they get married??? Did they even have an official wedding??? they had tricked all of Anlan into thinking the were already husband and wife

On the sanitisation of Zayne's character in terms of murder and control: The conversation that Zayne mirrors the abominations/alterum is being lost. You can try to sanitize his mercy killings and I will not refute they are to a degree an act of mercy at times, but you are also denying Zayne's core design as an Annihilator of errors hence he is also extremely cold when executing outside of those he knows and is within his own control. You cannot erase that what he did to MC as a child as something that was done for erasure of her existence as a variable, it was not Mercy. It was not like William, or true Dawnbreaker in Dawnbreaker reality to Georgie. The point that people who have completely lost control are the ones that are an issue, is mirroring how abominations AND alterum can be at the 100% transformed state, but before that point their sentiency still has to count as they are still people and not pure wanderers. This mirrors how Zayne himself operates. Within his DB mentality state in DAR, he to a degree is acting mercifully, but he is correcting the errors of an irreversible descent into abomination for others. Zayne loses control of himself again just like those he kills but unlike their descension, it is Zayne's ascension mirroring his truer purpose. The entire dynamic, mirroring, parallels and levels of humanity, divinity, sci fi, spirituality and psychology should not be sanitised or simplified to try to make him a simpler digestible character. He is morally gray and complex and it is why he even says as such the simpler ideal MC met him with at the graveyard is false. He may feel the weight of his actions and they do torture him but he does not regret them. Green flag conversations can happen to death regarding how he operates in his romantic relationships and towards normal people, but these dynamics should not be used to erase some of the fundamental principles and complexities of his character. Zayne feels the weight of what he is and his responsibilities. Thus, to understand him and more accurately deconstruct and decipher him, we have to also accept what he is as opposed to masking where it does not fit due to personal comfortability and to elevate simplifying a complex character. The primary point is - only MC is his exception. Shubai's perspective in Dusk to Autumn solidifies this perspective in how he perceives favoritism: "Every wold's story is equally interesting, and every world's ending is the same*. From a perspective that exists on the higher plane of existence, the one emotion he can never possess is preference." (Dusk to Autumn 21 : Chapter 3 : Page 7) The world's ending that remains the same is stated earlier: "he [Zayne] stands above every world that deserved to be erased." (21 : Chapter 2 : Page 4) "He [Zayne] will bring an end to that world without any hesitation. It'll be as nonchalant as brushing off a speck of dust from his shoulder. He did it for every world Shubai has read about in books." (21 : Chapter 4 : Page 4) MC is the "preference" Zayne - as a higher plane of existence being - was never meant to have. The one aspect in all the universes that brings out an avarice that damns the cosmos, the undoing of his purpose of Erasure and Annihilation, of methodical calculations and deciphering corrections, to pursuing her and only her existence with pure devotion and love. He wishes for them together, but she alone is his wish and only her death or harm is his complete undoing. It is not Mercy, it is Divine Retribution. By pursuing thousands, hundreds of thousands, innumerable quantities of calculations he has chosen the most painful path to correct the Error that is most illogical to the universe, but for his own selfish desire to have MC safe and alive. He is a God reworking the rules of the universe and paying the cost for it. What he does for MC would not have the weight it does if you do not also acknowledge and accept what he was doing outside of his interference with her. You have to accept how exceptional she is to him and why they are in such Cosmic Demise, when if he stuck to his actual role as a purely calculated Annihilator, none of this would ever have happened. The tragedy of ZayneMC's relationship gains its weight when you accept their complexity and the cost of it, dilution is disservice. In Zayne's desperation to oppose his nature for his jasmine, is a devotion as incomparable as the weight of a god's heart sacrificed for love.
