The Indian stock market is likely to open lower today as indiacated by gift nifty. U.S. stock index futures ticked lower, as investors cautiously watched President Donald Trump’s deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz after Tehran rejected a ceasefire proposal. Earlier, U.S market closed higher on Monday after President Donald Trump said talks with Iran were ongoing and reiterated a Tuesday deadline for Tehran to reopen the critical Strait of Hormuz. Trump spoke at a White House press conference, in which he added that Iran "could be taken out" on Tuesday night. Iran’s state media earlier said the country had rejected a potential ceasefire proposal to end its conflict with the U.S. and Iran. Asian market are trading mix, as investors are focused on a U.S.-imposed deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face infrastructure attacks. Meanwhile, amid high tension in the US-Iran war, the WTI crude oil price witnessed sharp buying in the early morning deals in the Asian market. WTI crude oil is trading close to its record high of $115/bbl. As per provisional figures (NSE, BSE and MSEI in Capital Market Segment), Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs)/ Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) sold shares worth net Rs. 7950.01 crore and Domestic institutional investors bought shares worth net Rs. 7,839.62 crore on 6th April 2026.
