In 1945, the average British family ate: butter, dripping, lard, eggs, whole milk, offal, fatty cuts, whatever the farm produced. Obesity, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic syndrome were a fraction of what they are today. In 1980, the dietary guidelines told them to stop. By 2000, the replacement diet was: vegetable spreads, skimmed milk, low-fat yoghurt with added sugar, seed oil-fried everything, and breakfast cereal marketed with cartoon animals. By 2020, 63% of British adults were overweight or obese. The guidelines have not been revised. The people who issued the guidelines have not been asked why. The people selling the replacement products have reported consistent revenue growth. These are facts. Draw your own conclusions. I've drawn mine.
