I really want to believe Fauci and the thousands of doctors, scientists and researchers at the CDC who have worked for decades to keep me alive and healthy. I really do. But then Lauren Boebert, who has a GED, says something different and now I'm so conflicted.

I gave a series of talks in Texas this last week for the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) to talk about my research on islands and coasts. Great hosts and met some really interesting people in both Austin and San Antonio. @archaeology_aia #goducks

I told my girls that if they finished HS with at least a 3.0 GPA I would take them on a special trip for their graduation. If they finished with a 3.5 or above, they got to choose the place. Lily got a 4.0 and so we’re heading to Ireland, Wales, England, and Greece!

After too many bad experiences both in publishing and reviewing, I'm formally announcing my refusal to do anything again for MDPI journals.

@IainMcKechnie No way. Everyone knows I limit citing myself to 50 per paper. Anything over that is just silly. 😄

Recently reviewed a paper for a scientific journal for which had a long list of valid critiques. Among them was the high rate of self-citations (more than 100 out of 170 cited). The paper was published anyway with no changes made. Found out lead author was also Editor-in-Chief 🤔
