Remembering the legendary French actor, Jean-Paul Belmondo, on his 93rd birthday! In 'Fear Over the City' (1975), Jean-Paul Belmondo performed all the stunts on his own without a double. Almost all of them were very dangerous. The movie had a car chase, a helicopter scene, a Rooftop fight lasting several minutes & the most dangerous of them all, this incredible chase on a moving train in the metro. For the metro scene, the RATP (the Parisian Autonomous Transit Network) allowed the crew to film the chase scene from midnight till 5am (when the metro is closed), for three weeks! At the end, the metro driver said to Belmondo, "I wouldn't have done this for a million Francs (around 200,000 modern Euros)!" To which, Belmondo replied, "neither did I!" [Source: IMDb] P.S: On this day, 51 years ago, 'Fear Over the City' (1975) was released in France.

Jim had a soft spot for dogs. The black Labrador, Stone, pictured here belonged to his friend and photographer Paul Ferrara, who also captured both of these photos. In the second image, Jim is with his and Pamela Courson’s dog, Sagebrush. They shortened his name to Sage, and Jim often called him “Mr. Brush.” #JimMorrison

For those curious, these scenes, along with many other deleted scenes were put together in a cut of the first two films that played chronologically, starting with the events in Corleone when Vito was a boy. The cut was originally made for tv, it’s worth watching if you can find a copy. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Godfa…

In The Godfather Part II, a deleted scene shows two of Don Ciccio’s henchmen going to Vito’s mother after his older brother is killed, demanding that she hand the boy over. Years later, Vito returns to Sicily as a grown man and tracks down those same two henchmen in scenes that were also cut from the film, before finally confronting Don Ciccio himself. These scenes were cut for pacing, but they’re worth watching because they show how ruthless and methodical Vito was as a young man in carrying out his revenge — a side of him we rarely see in the finished films.

Happy birthday to Paul Robeson — pro athlete, actor, singer, civil rights activist, and socialist — born on this day in 1898. When he traveled abroad, Robeson made a point to sing for workers. Here he is performing ‘Joe Hill’ to Scottish miners in 1949.
