Even though my life is good, I still miss being on the road. I miss touring. I miss knowing I could live my dream on the weekends. I miss selling shirts and taking pictures of the same band every week. Weekend work was still fulfilling. I just miss it so much.
Dave Coe. Variety Playhouse. L5P ATL. Valentine’s Day night. Me and the boys.
Three songs in. An over-enthused fan leaps on stage. Drummer sprints out from behind the kit and Terry Tates the guy off into the crowd like a missile. Band doesn’t miss a beat.
Eventually drummer gets back on stage. Gets Stella’s groove back. By the time the show ends, Coe is done with a liter of Beam he started in on during the first riff set up for him on a barstool by a roadie alongside nothing else but an undecorated, spartan shot glass from which said roadie would fillith Coe’s cup betwixt breaks in the set.
The girlfriends were turbo pissed.
