@cjhaylett Personally I hope he does stay and learns where we're lacking from past seasons. He gets us some cracking players, it's the consistency he needs to find. When we're great, we're great and it's sexy hockey. But when we blow cold it's dire.

I know people will want Fox out, but I really hope this isn't how it ends for him. He is honestly one of the nicest guys you could meet and he has had an absolute rollercoaster of a time as a coach. That man has gone through stuff that would break so many and he's given us joy 🧡

I don't see how Fox survives this. I don't know how easy it would be to replace him or whether we'd improve or not. But this is rock bottom. Only 1 hockey club in this country gets 9k through the door, and 100's following on the road. Those fans deserve better

@steelthepuck Based on last season - Curtis Warburton is the best back-up. No goals conceded in the time he was on the ice.

@Matt540547911 @steelthepuck I beg to differ, the GB junior teams are underwhelming in tournaments for years. Watched a few under 18’s games this year and the kids could hardly skate. As long as the import level keep going up in EIHL and NIHL then let’s hope for some dual nationals to start heading over here

@steelthepuck There are plenty more Liam Kirks in GB youth set up they just need a clear pathway, development structure and gradual introduction to higher standard ice time at each level NIHL standard needs to raise to bridge the gap between that and Elite.

Another win for GB! Does make you think though. We’re clearly too good for the Division 1A, but just not good enough for the top division. What can we do as a nation to keep us at the top? Must be a tricky one.

@smithy6487 As I said, personal health above club. He’s 1 year left on his contract, he plays through this year at 50% then misses half of next season anyway after surgery. Pointless. Get him in now and fully fit for next season.

Some big issues for Fox to sort in the summer. Big chunk of imports need replacing. Along with major surgery to that Brit core. Dowd’s output is way down. Whistle not producing enough. No Brit D meaning we’re short on the forwards. Some real problems in there.

@steelermark Unfortunately that’s not how it works, if the club wants him to play then he has to. He needs surgery which I think would keep him out for the season and playoffs so it won’t happen yet

@smithy6487 This isn’t a knock on Dowd. His numbers would get lower because that’s what happens with age, irrelevant of any injuries. Fox would still have the same issues. Ultimately the league is done, get Robert whatever he needs. Plenty of youngsters available to us. If his injury …

@juliefi05934661 @steelthepuck Warburton was the 6th best goalie in the system, shows when Norton gets injured they are happy for Steelers to take him and Crowe goes back. He’s a back up in the NIHL so shouldn’t be seeing Elite League level

@steelthepuck I understand people questioning about Warbie, but isn't he goalie for Steeldogs? So we can't keep him full-time anyway (50/50?). So why not look for another younger Greenfield ? Remember Greenie joined us after injury with few to no recent games and look how well he did 🤷‍♀️

24 year old goalie that is new to the league. Let’s just give him a chance. He will be no Matt Greenfield. Although he might be Finnish, his career with us has only just started 😏
