@UniLUT @LUTsoftware

@fake_journals I think this is a really good comment, thank you for writing this. Some of those anonymous accounts are really aggressive, mocking persons directly and are too quick to judge. Not following those ones, they dont help on this bigger cause.

. If you are anonymous, consider revealing who is behind your account. Since 2018, I’ve been raising awareness about predatory and unethical publishing practices. For six years, I remained under the radar, but in 2024, I decided to go public and reveal my identity. In many ways, I wish I’d done this sooner, but my decision was informed by the challenges faced by others, such as those chronicled by Beall. Since going public, I have not faced any real aggression and I receive many messages of support, for which I thank you. While there are many anonymous accounts voicing concerns, I’ve noticed a disturbing trend: some of these accounts, though anonymous, adopt aggressive stances towards others, without disclosing who they are or who is backing them. I respect anonymity, but I believe that when an account is hostile or confrontational, there is a responsibility to at least be transparent about one’s identity and affiliations. If nothing else, so that others can make a judgement, not just those who are being highlighted, whether the comments are warranted. Importantly, it would also remove a large amount of the discussion about who is behind these accounts, which often dominates the discussion, at the detriment of the real issues being discussed. I do not (try not to) engage in aggression or personal attacks. My goal is always to foster open, honest discussions about the integrity of research and publishing. It’s important to remember that our efforts should be constructive, not divisive, if we are truly committed to making positive changes in academic publishing. If you operate an anonymous account, it is, of course, your prerogative to remain anonymous but I would encourage you to “go public”. Speaking from personal experience, people tend to take you more seriously if they know who they are talking to. If you remain behind that cloak of secrecy others will always wonder what you have to hide.

After having my grounded theory papers rejected—surprise, surprise—due to 'lack of' statistical generalization (addressed in the threats to validity section along with data saturation and transferability), I thought, why not share a few more insightful comments I've got?

Of course, we wouldn't miss the chance to discuss EDI in education during @ICSEconf! So, we are also happy to share that our paper has been accepted to the IEEE Conference on Software Engineering Education and Training.

I woke up to reviewers asking about statistical generalization ... in our QUALITATIVE research or, more importantly, discussing how my abstract is too long. But hey, 2 out of 5 papers were accepted at @ICSEconf-SEIS, so I am celebrating with my amazing collaborators! Cheers!

We're running a study on how certain personality traits and cognitive abilities impact performance in typical "coding interview" tasks. Personality tests get more and more common in recruiting processes, so this study might be interesting if you are applying for jobs soon!
