@FountainheadFm @ChristianHeiens No, other way around. You need to cooperate with what you are, and build on top of it rather than try to reject it in favor of fictional universalism. Also you are demonstrably stupid if only thing you (wrongly) got from the writeup was "enlightenment bad"

@ChristianHeiens So, should we just throw away all that scientific progress that was made because of the Enlightenment? Let's cut life expectancy in half, for example. Let's bring back small pox and all the diseases, too.

No one actually exists outside of inherited obligations. You are born into a particular family, with a particular language and history. You are born with a particular sex, from a particular lineage, in a particular nation, with a particular culture, and during a particular era. There's nothing "universal" about you, and there's nothing voluntary or chosen about what makes you, "you" either. The Enlightenment-era idea of "universal man" free from constraint is a total lie, and to demand absolute freedom from the very inherited obligations that make you who you are is to declare war on yourself. Which is why Liberals are disproportionately mentally ill, unhappy with themselves, susceptible to self-multilating pathologies like transgenderism, and have a collapsing birth rate.

I do a lot of agentic engineering on retro. Have made a new OS and programming language for the c64. Where the process analyzes the binary artifacts after as part of verification, and can automate the emulator , monitor memory, take and analyze memory dumps and run UI driven tests , simulating in our , taking screenshots, reading the graphics and text memory buffers. Most of the challenge is working out how to make the result automatically and accurately verifiably. In the rewrite of the DOS demo above. I had a video of it on YouTube so got it to analyze that for a general reference to guide it. readyos.notion.site

Fast, cheap AI-assisted decompilation of binary code is here. Which means code secrecy is dead. Decompilers in themselves are not a new technology. Security researchers have employed them for years to analyze compiled malware. There's been some limited use by others, notably by hobbyists decompiling abandonware games. But there were a couple of issues that prevented this from becoming common practice. One is simply that running decompilers was difficult. It wasn't as simple as feed in binary, get out source; it needed a person with specialist skills prepared to do spelunking through wildernesses of machine code and object formats. The other problem was that decompilation didn't give you anything like the explanatory comments that had been in the original code, so you could easily wind up with code that you could read without being able to understand or modify it. Now large language models are busily smashing both of those barriers flat. They're better at the kind of detail analysis required to run the human side of a decompilation than humans are. More importantly, in the process of decompiling code, they rather automatically build a global model of how it works that can easily be expressed by high quality comments in the extracted code. All you have to do, basically, is ask for the comments. I'm going to reinforce that latter point because it may not be obvious how good LLMs are at this, and how much better they're going to get. When they decompile code and comment it for you, they're not just working from that one piece of code you have put in front of them - they'll have in their training set hundreds, possibly thousands of pieces of code similar to it and with comments. This will give them superhuman levels of insight not just into what it does at the microlevel, but what it means to the humans who wrote it, and what technical assumptions it's embodying. Compilation no longer guards your secrets. Or, to put it more precisely the expected time span in which you can still count on it to obscure them is measured in months. Possibly weeks. What does this mean? It means you're in an open-source world now. All it's going to take for anybody to bust your proprietary IP open is care enough to spend tokens on the analysis. You will maximize your chances of survival as a software business if you get out ahead of this rather than trying to fight it. This isn't exactly the way I expected open source to win. But, you know, I'll take it. Good enough.

No, it’s because every explicitly lefty, progressive story is so dreadfully, abominably, fundamentally… boring. You guys don’t know how to write characters because you don’t know how people act; your ideology pigeon-holes everyone into “nazi” or “gay”, even heterosexual characters have to be gay-like or else they’re decried as being sexist. You’re all so sheltered from the kaleidoscope of human archetypes that you write ONE character and just tweak it slightly based on whatever arbitrary boxes they tick off. Your aesthetics are homogenous, all disgusting and covered in coats of neon paint, no sense for the style or purpose of visual media. You guys don’t understand, or perhaps more accurately hate, beauty and so your entire artistic identity centres around deconstructing and perverting it. And then worst of all, the plot. You always write the same fucking plot! Plucky band of misfits commit crimes but are heroes because the big bad fascists tell you to get a job and clean up your act. You can do whatever evil shit you want because you’re the heroes and they’re the bad men who tell you no. It’s all just impotent seething rage at a society that wants to continue functioning, despite your incessant tantrums. Nuance and complexity are always accidental, and get noticed by rightists who then just claim the villains because you cannot grok why people might like a character that’s been labelled “bad”. And all of this is why you fuckers latch onto and try to claim, try to steal, apolitical- or even baseline right wing- stories, games, movies, etc.; everything your side produces to reinforce its ideology is garbage, so inevitably the baseline adherents look to what’s good. But the good stuff isn’t made for your ideology, it’s made to be good, so you make up a load of headcanon bullshit to warp and twist, to rape the creation of someone else, and force it to represent you. Nobody is afraid of being convinced by your garbage because it can’t even convince those who already agree with it. Your shit actually just stinks.

Ok I will explain. Every complete ideology has a very specific relation to the past, present, and future: The past was perfect, because X hadn’t yet done Y. Then X did Y, and now we live in the fallen present. But in the future, X will stop doing Y, and everything will be perfect again. Ideologies really really need that “the past was perfect” part, because it proves that their future utopia is possible. You will notice that even religions have this structure. The Greek pagans had the Golden Age, Christianity has the Garden of Eden. Communism has this structure. Marx wrote in The Communist Manifesto that “The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles.” But Engels had to add a footnote clarifying that he only meant *written* history, and that once upon a time, “primitive communistic societies” existed everywhere. Why? Because Engels realized that if class struggle had always existed, then that undermined the communist case that class struggle could be eliminated. Communism needed its own Garden of Eden. Now, modern historians and archaeologists aren’t (all) communists. But most are what some people have recently started calling “race communists.” That is, they strongly agree with these statements about the present and the future: “We live in a fallen world where people hate each other based on race and ethnicity. But in the future, people will stop hating each other based on race and ethnicity, and everyone will live together in peace and harmony.” The problem is, that’s not a complete ideology. It needs a corresponding belief about the past. It needs: “In the past, people didn’t hate each other based on race and ethnicity.” Otherwise, their peaceful utopian future becomes unbelievable. And so, wherever possible, whenever an iota of doubt could be created, archaeologists and historians tried to rewrite history and edit out ethnic conflict. The Indo-European invasions? That was a mere migration of “pots, not people.” The Anglo-Saxon conquest of Britain? Just a small number of mostly peaceful immigrants who assimilated the Romano-Briton majority to their culture. Rome was an anti-racist multicultural paradise. Etc etc etc. But anyway, now DNA has shown all that to be bullshit, so guys like David Reich (who actively participated in this censorious editing of history btw) are starting to give up and move on.
Jacob Shell@JacobAShell

I still genuinely dont understand why the idea that neolithic peoples engaged in violent conquests would be “a political problem.”

My far left millennial brother in law loves what's happening in NYC. He gets his views from Twitch (Destiny, Hassan, etc) & Reddit, so I'm confident he's similar to other leftists. I picked his brain and here's what I can tell about the normies on the left: 1) He's glad not to live in NYC and pay those taxes. He admits this is completely hypocritical. He seems to view the state as a means to punish enemies. 2) I told him these types of tax seizures have failed in every country when tried, over all of human history. He doesn't care. I'm unclear if he can't think of 2nd order effects, or the punishment of his enemies is the point. 3) He plays dumb / pretends not to understand when there's something that makes liberals look bad. "Huh, I don't know about that, ." I don't know where liberals learned this, but it's weird when you trip it. 4) Woke not only isn't gone, it's stronger than ever. The difference now is liberals don't share their opinions as openly as before. I think they understand, on some level, their views can't withstand reality. I experience this when traveling, too. Liberals keep their thoughts to themselves if they hear I'm from Florida. They'll wrap up their mentally ill conversations when I walk up. In previous years, they assumed everyone held their views. 5) DEI is still their god. My brother in law was a huge Kanye fan. We made fun of him because Ye came up in every other conversation somehow. So when seeing him recently, I asked when we were going to a Kanye concert to HH as a family. My brother in law disavowed ever liking Kanye. And then the conversation got contentious. 😅 (BTW: defending Kanye's song HH directly to a liberal is some of the most fun you'll ever have. Highly recommended.) My overall impressions talking with him and other IRL liberals recently: -They don't care about the destruction they're causing. They just want others to feel pain. -Liberalism is their religion, and they pray daily. Every interaction or conversation is a chance to reaffirm their liberal beliefs and spread the word. Nothing deters them on their holy mission. -Modern liberalism is about tribal allegiance, not outcomes. I don't think they believe good outcomes are even possible. They never mention this utopia they're striving for, only the pain they inflict on others. -They don't believe fraud is real. They believe the government is a righteous organization that also has perfect accounting. The only flaw of government in their minds is non-liberal views are allowed to persist. My conclusion: we can't share a country with these people. And we won't. Conservatives have long held their beliefs quiet, and now liberals are doing the same. Less dialog with each other only leads to diverging views. The smart will eventually lead an exodus, likely when the nation-wide wealth tax comes (they're already planning it!). We see that with tech bros abandoning the west coast. CA lost 1/2 of it's billionaire wealth in literal days, and the CEO of Starbucks left WA the day they introduced an income tax. I don't think Balkanization happens (the breakup of the country), as it would just lead to the federal government seizing any leader who tried to propose it. Liberals love what's happening in NYC. Soon it'll be in your town. Plan your escape now, anon.
