St. Marys FFA

The SM FFA officers set some high goals this summer and they delivered! Yesterday, we were named a top ten chapter in the state as well as a top ten chapter in the area of growing leaders! We are proud of your hard work and will celebrate at state convention in May!

Our members kicked off FFA week by wishing our neighbors and fellow Auglaize County schools “Happy National FFA Week”. Members made surprise visits to 6 chapters hoping to help them promote FFA Week in their community and build a stronger network!!

As we get ready to celebrate FFA week this week- this is a reminder of the dress up themes. Also, Kelly Imwalle has made this FFA quilt- and each day members participate in the theme, they will be entered to win the quilt at the end of the week.

The warmer weather has it feeling like spring, and first round of plants was delivered and planted this week. Spring will be here soon, and keep us in mind for your flower needs!

Stop 4 was the Kentucky Derby Museum and Churchill downs for a great track side tour! We also had a rare opportunity to see the backside of the Downs where more than 1200 horses are boarded during the race season. We got to see the starting gates and Secretariat’s stall!

Stop 5- last stop was Louisville Slugger factory and tour. We witnessed how this iconic piece of baseball history goes from a tree to a bat. We even had a chance to hold some bats from famous players! We had a great time and will be home soon!

Stop 2 was lunch at the Bluegrass Stockyards Stop 3 - we toured the Kentucky Horse Park to learn more about the horse industry. We experienced the international horse museum, attended stall side chats and saw some famous horses, including Derby Winner- Funny Cide!

The Ag Careers Tour was full of great stops this year!! Stop 1- Fasig-Tipton in Lexington- North America’s oldest thoroughbred auction house. We learned about the auction and buying process and watched members of this year’s yearling crop unload for their upcoming sale.

Save the date for our annual Christmas activities- both on Saturday, December 10th! Breakfast with Santa (9am-11am) and Miracle on Spring Street (11am-1pm). Stay tuned for more details.

We are excited for our Experience Agriculture Tour! These kids have been working on lessons and activities and are ready to teach 160 3rd graders about our local ag industry. Thank you to Kroger, Grand Lake Fish Hatchery, MVP Dairy, the Nedderman family! Stay tuned for updates!

Calling all local farmers- let us deliver you a meal tomorrow afternoon and say thank you! Comment with your address and we will do our best to get to you. Otherwise, be on the lookout for FFA members tomorrow!! Happy and safe harvesting!

Today the students packed nearly 60,000 meals for those in need. Then they traveled to George Washington Estates and learned about the history of our President!!

Ready for Living to Serve Day and a group service project!

Day 3 -We spent the morning meeting with Representative Jim Jordan and his staff. We were grateful to learn so much from his staff & meet the Congressman on the steps of the Captiol. We made a stop at the National Botanical Gardens before returning for more leadership development

Day 2 was full of great sites around DC. We went to Arlington National Cemetery in the morning, participated in leadership sessions about values and beliefs, and ended the day with a night tour of the monuments!

The Auglaize Co. Fairgrounds is looking for some help Monday (6/20) 11am-3pm and Wednesday (6/22) 6am-9am moving items for the Bicycle event. Kids can earn tip money from helping. Contact Mrs. B for info!

After a few weather delays, we are on our way to Washington DC for Washington Leadership Conference! We will update you throughout the week! It’s been an exciting start, so we are excited for the rest of the week!

E+R=O! Our members are ready to lead our chapter using this formula! We had a great day learning how build culture and lead with @F3Derek . Thanks @MiamiEast_FFA for spending the day with us as well!

At the end of day 1 this team has planned the calendar, set goals, worked on etiquette, and had some great team bonding! We are set for a great year and pumped for leadership training tomorrow. Thanks to the Schlosser’s for hosting us this evening.
