During one of my residency interviews I was asked what surgical instrument I’d be and I said the SUCTION because it’s loud & kind of annoying and is sometimes helpful but mostly just in the way.

@GongGasGirl If I’m the only anaesthetist and want to stay at the head end the whole time but the drip is far away and the tech is doing cricoid, I often ask the surgeon to give the drugs ..’on my cues give 3mls of the blue syringe, then all of the white stuff, then all of the red syringe’.
