@maggielove_ This is a trend I have noticed too, and not just in the Ethereum Ecosystem. It seems like some "Web3" peeps are forgetting we're supposed to be building the decentralized web, not looking for the next round of internet overlords..

As someone who is deeply invested in Ethereum, my biggest concern coming out of ETHCC Brussels was the lack of a unified Ethereum community. I didn't see the alignment that I often hear talked about on crypto twitter. Instead, I saw many L2s all competing, and many side events felt like trade shows -- not community gatherings. Ethereum needs to figure out how to get aligned at the social layer in order to succeed. I didn't make every single event so take it with a grain of salt, but we also have to be honest about the state of L2s and if alignment is the goal, something needs to change.

The red pill contagion is largely reactionary. Of course this stuff is complex, but no doubt a big part of this is push back on the toxic wing of the woke movement. I've got ugly stories about the red pill crew, but I've got some pretty wild stories about the toxic wokeism too. In some circles I witnessed just outright hatred of straight white cis men. Yikes. In both cases it's hateful reactionary collectivism. If it weren't so ugly it would be hilarious. Both of these crews don't realize that they are the same.
