So my brother got a kick in the nuts when he was at work yesterday. His house burnt down. He's homeless with only the shirt on his back and the stuff in his truck. No insurance. Any help would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just to pass it on. gofundme.com/micheal-numeda…

You can’t tell me it’s not all related. Separatists groups somehow gets a hold of electoral lists. The thought is the Republican Party of Alberta which was the first fucking flag gave them the list!

Fun fact: Just because you support social services doesn't mean you use social services. Its crazy how foreign the idea is to some people that succesfull people actually give a shit about the less fortunate. I support AISH, I support Welfare. If you don't, its kinda sad.

I think, perhaps some commentators seem to be so stuck in their politics-focused boxes, they are missing that Mark Carney’s success is not about right/left, con/lib but quite simply *building Canada*. And right now, that is what is so attractive.

🌞Good morning Canada. Defending the indefensible. The right wing spin of threats against a sitting PM and storming of the House of Commons as “free speech.” Criticism isn’t a crime. Threats aren’t a meme. You can go after Mark Carney all day long. That’s democracy. But “I’m coming for you” isn’t debate. It’s a line you don’t get to cross and then cry censorship. This isn’t about silencing voices. It’s about consequences for crossing into threats and intimidation. Stop calling it “thought policing.” Call it what it is: accountability. #cdnpoli #FreeSpeech #Disinformation #RuleOfLaw

Dear Melissa. Two things I want to point out first and you would know if you read the MAID guidelines in Canada. 1/ Canada’s Healthcare is Provincial. Run by the Premiers of each province. Ottawa helps pay and it’s the provinces that actually deliver the healthcare. 2/ Fact-check Canada's MAiD isn't "booming" as proof of societal "darkness" or that we've "given up." Let's look at official numbers, not just shock headlines. Health Canada's 6th Annual Report (released Nov 28, 2025) shows: - 16,499 MAiD deaths in 2024 (up 6.9% from 2023's 15,343 growth has slowed dramatically from 30%+ peaks earlier) - Represents 5.1% of all deaths (1 in 20), a tiny 0.4% increase from 2023 - Cumulative total as of Dec 31, 2024: 76,475 since legalization in 2016 The "100,000 by summer" projection? Based on ~45 daily provisions in late 2024/early 2025 data. Plausible if rates hold steady, but it's a forecast, not yet reality and being amplified for maximum alarm. Key context often missing: - 95.6% are Track 1: people whose natural death is reasonably foreseeable (mostly terminal illness like cancer, ALS, elderly avg age ~78). Track 2 (chronic non-terminal suffering) is just 4.4%. - Of 22,535 requests in 2024, many were denied, withdrawn, or people died naturally first. Safeguards include 2 independent assessments, no coercion allowed. - Growth is plateauing as the system matures far from "booming unchecked." Canada’s health “crisis” is a Provincial issue. Premiers like Doug Ford and Danielle Smith have intentionally underfunded Provincial healthcare since the Pandemic. . But causally blaming them for MAiD uptake is speculative most recipients are terminally ill seeking dignity/control at end-of-life, not socioeconomic victims. Studies show no disproportionate drive from poverty alone. It’s never coerced. But framing it as pure "darkness" or "unforgivably wrong" ignores the majority who choose it peacefully amid terminal decline. Public support remains strong in polls.
Melissa Chen@MsMelChen

Every measure of a good, decent life in Canada is plummeting. But euthanasia is booming. This isn't compassion. This is darkness. This is a society that's given up. Something is terribly, unforgivably wrong with a country that can't house its people or grow its economy but excels at helping them die.
