@ShaneMcAuliffe1 Very sorry for your loss Shane. They are a member of the family. 💔

@ShaneMcAuliffe1 It's so hard Shane. All they give is joy and unconditional love.

Not good news for Boots today - calcium channel blockers brought down his heart rate when we did another ECG but an echocardiogram show he’s at advance stages of cardiomyopathy. Common in large dog breeds even though he’s only 4. Xray showing fluid on his chest which is because the heart simply can’t pump
the blood around the body. The fractional shortening of the heart has him exhausted. Trying a combination of 4 cardiac medicines to see if there is any improvement but even if it does work, the condition his heart is in sadly only gives him a few months.

@HealyScience @IrishSciTeach @Mikekav66 @Scienceteachire My advice...get clever with homework assignments and corrections. You will need to maximise your valuable class contact time. Set pieces of work that are easily self corrected or quickly corrected. Use questioning in class to find and address misconceptions quickly.

✨️My school are moving to one 1️⃣ Hr classes 👩🏫 and need advice as to how to break up the class for junior and leaving certs?

@HealyScience @IrishSciTeach @Mikekav66 @Scienceteachire We see JC for 2 classes per week, harder to get to know them, then if they are out for an activity or you are away on a trip or have them on a Monday with bank holidays... investigations have to be short with easily changed variables or they won't get their results in 1 hour
English

@HealyScience @IrishSciTeach @Mikekav66 @Scienceteachire We switched a few years ago. You won't have time at LC for lots of activities, you will struggle to get the course covered (HL BIO and Ag teacher here) and as for getting the mandatory exp done..they spill over into the next class so what took 1hr 20 now takes guts of 2hrs

@lizoxx13 @joeliveline @RGDATATara And think of the emissions from your car in all the driving around looking for a machine that works!
English

We were told categorically that every store that took the 25c deposit had to give it back via machine or over counter. Not so. This major chain has an exemption from returning your money! @RGDATATara @3Rgdata #depositreturn

@DrJohnODonoghue @ainehyland Applied maths project due now ....our 6th years are in the middle of their mocks. 🤷
English

Projects are nice and “reducing exam pressure” is welcome… but I agree with @ainehyland here, juggling multiple projects while also studying for exams (mocks & the real thing) will be very tough for students - on top of doing mandatory experiments (experimental investigations)

5th Year @StOliversCC students learning about all things spud related with Maria @BallymakennyF with some regenerative ag thrown in! We even left with samples of the now famous Violetta Red Emmalie and Dunbarr potatoes. There's no better example of a niche ag market anywhere.

English

Now we just have to fill them... Looking forward to the first tasting of our new product #BallymakennyFarm #PurplePotatoSalad at @FoodOnTheEdge on Monday & Tuesday next week in @AirfieldEstate A LOT of
people who know A LOT about food, sure why would I be nervous 😊

Have you tried using an EXPLORE BOARD to build background knowledge before diving into a text or subject? It's a great tool to promote #reading comprehension. Give it a try!

@hexagonlinks @StOliversCC @LorKeenan @McdonnellCora Thanks @hexagonlinks . Must check this out. We have been running PLCs or collaboratives for Ag Science teachers nationwide for 2 years with mixed results. Not within the same school but as a way to reduce the isolation of single subject specific teachers.
English

For the teaching and learning group @StOliversCC👌 let's take a read of this.....@LorKeenan @McdonnellCora

Really interesting paper from @ProfDanielMuijs on school effectiveness, showing the power of Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s) where teachers/leaders collaborate to create and share knowledge. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

@LeavingCertBio Hi @LeavingCertBio is there any chance you could share this template? I would really appreciate it.
English

Roll to Recap: a nice assessment method incorporating collaboration!
I made a Scientific Method question board for my 5th years to assess how they grasped the topic. I collected, corrected & gave feedback on their responses.
Students roll the dice to choose their Q.

@KevinoHanlon12 @NatOrgSkill @TeagascOrganics @AcademySoil Kevin why exactly are you zero grazing?Do you not want the cattle out on the MSS? Would you do this often with all types of grazing or just the MSS? Is it related to the ground conditions at the moment only or something you would do regularly with MSS? Thanks. 🤗
