2022 had the highest highs and lowest lows. Really enjoyed going through all of my photos for the year and writing up how I spent it. Excited for 2023 ☺️ soffes.com/blog/2022

@soffes I'm talking about text based content, I don't use LLMs for math that just seems silly to me for the exact reason in your initial tweet
English

@flyosity Or it doesn't. There's no way to know without doing the same amount of work it would be without having the AI involved. I don't understand the point if you care about accuracy.
English

@soffes Using it for math isn't really a smart use case in general. I like sending a ton of structured data to LLMs and then asking it to identify and trends, insights, or interesting datapoints and explain why they're interesting. That works like magic

2003 is my favorite.

@edwardsanchez Realizing that screen recording made it go away was the key to finding the fix too 😄

@soffes That is very much the definition of the observer effect!

So I bought my parents a new Brother printer because their old one broke and my 72 year-old dad called customer support for help setting it up, instead of me. They had him run a command that showed him networking traffic and tried to tell him, "Your network is compromised, buy our $750 security software package to fix your system."
So he calls me and explained this to me, and he firmly believed that the network was compromised. I was LIVIDDDDDD. I assured him it's not, they are trying to scam him. I setup my parents home network and I can see pretty much every device that access their home network and get alerted when there's a new device added, so that's how I know they were capping. I looked up a YouTube video that showed him how to set up the printer, sent it to him to follow on his phone, and then he got it working without a problem.
If it wasn't for the urgency of him needing a printer ASAP, I would've had him send back that printer and bought him from a non-exploitative brand. I'm also glad my father called me to tell me, because I'd have been pissed if they fleeced him for that $750. There's nothing that pisses me off more than companies that try to take advantage of elderly people who do not know any better and use fear tactics to try and scam them.
