The tops and even middle areas have better exposure to the lighting source along with airflow and other things. This allows them to mature and ripen better. Smalls are predominantly from bottom nugs in the lower canopy. They are covered and don’t get nearly as much light. This leaves them less developed. It affects the smell, taste, look, and pretty much every metric we judge flower by.

Do you find there to be a huge difference between Whole big nugs vs smalls? Curiosity post here for me.
