WHY A BOYCOTT IS THE ONLY OPTION? 1. idols are bound by strict, long-term contracts that control almost every part of their lives. saying they can just “take legal action” ignores the power imbalance, blacklisting risk and heavy financial penalties. they aren’t “choosing” this. they are enduring it. in many cases, fans speaking up is the only voice they have. 2. companies do not see high sales as “artist power” they see it as validation. if you keep giving them numbers while they mistreat the artists, you are showing them it works. money does not give the members leverage, it gives the company a reason not to change. 3. a successful solo within an exploitative system only teaches the company how to market the next product better. we want him to succeed but in a system that respects his humanity. 4. the fear of being “downgraded” is used to keep fans spending. an artist’s value should not be measured by profit. if a company only sees them as assets, that is exactly why the boycott exists. 5. a trophy is replaceable; an artist’s health is not. winning an award does not give back what they lost. buying more just to win only funds the same system that is exhausting them.
