I was rushing to attend a meeting one day when i remembered i had promised to pay back a friend who had loaned me 5M UGX a month back when i was in a crisis, and in my hurry, I typed the number, double-checked it or at least I thought I did and immediately hit send. Done. I continued to my meeting
About thirty minutes later, my phone rang. An Unknown number. I almost ignored it. But it kept calling without stopping. Hello? I answered, distracted. There was a brief pause on the other end before a soft, careful voice spoke. Hello… please, I hope I’m not disturbing you. My name is Sarah. And I think you sent me money by mistake.
That sentence snapped my attention into place. I’m sorry what? I asked, already opening my mobile money app. She continued, I received some money just a few minutes ago, but I don’t know you, and I think maybe the number you entered was wrong. I just wanted to confirm before I touch it.
I checked the transaction history. And that’s where my heart dropped. I couldn’t believe it. I had sent the money to a completely wrong number. For a moment, I just stood there, staring at my phone, annoyed at myself. Then something else hit me, this stranger had called instead of disappearing with the money? 😳😳🙆♂️🙆♂️🙆♂️ Well, Most people wouldn’t.
So I quickly told her she was right. That money was meant for someone else. I thanked her for being honest. She then asked if she should send back the money to the same number to which i agreed and within minutes, the money came back.
Just like that. There were no arguments, no excuses, no delays, NOTHING. After the notification came through, I found myself still holding the phone, thinking. So told her i really appreciate what she did because not everyone would do that.
She was quiet for a second. Then she told me she just did what was right. She also confirmed she was even tempted for a moment as things are not very easy on her side right now. But she knew she wouldn’t have peace if she kept it.
Something in her honesty caught me off guard. Things are not easy… how?” I asked. Another pause. Then she revealed she lost her job a few months and she’s been trying to find something, anything really but in vain. So when she saw that money… for a second, she thought maybe it’s a blessing. But her conscience couldn’t let her keep it.
That sentence stayed with me. I leaned against the wall, thinking about how easily she could have justified keeping it. No one would have known. No one would have chased her but she still chose integrity.
I asked her what kind of work she was doing before? We talked for a few minutes. Nothing dramatic, just real life, Struggles, small hopes, the kind of conversation you rarely have with strangers. And by the time we were done, I had already made up my mind. Send her back the money.
I told her Check your phone again. Sliightly confused, She asked me Why?” Just check. I told her. There was silence, then a sharp inhale. She quickly said NO No. This is too much. Yes,” I replied calmly.
I told her this time, it’s not a mistake. You did the right thing when no one was watching. That kind of honesty deserves more than just ‘thank you.’ Consider it a blessing.
She didn’t speak immediately. And when she finally did, her voice had changed. You don’t understand what this means to me, while crying. There was a quiet sniff on the other end. Thank you, she said, this time with emotion she couldn’t hide. “I promise, I won’t forget this.”
We ended the call there.
Two strangers, connected by a mistake and something better that came out of it. That day reminded me of something simple but powerful:
Sometimes, the wrong number leads to the right person. I still talk to Sarah to this day and she’s doing okay.

@mwiine_bri66880 Marriage misfortune is not normal, it is a generational curse.
There are some homes where most ladies are not married just because they carry generational genes

@AmbroseEmuron @Sudhirntv For Mathew Kanyamunyu needed no evidence, he did it and was caught doing it...
Settlement came after many years coz Akena's spirit had started attacking him.
Bcoz Kanyamunyu had his own like Besigye's wife, Akena was intentionally denied justice.
Anyways, all are sanity
English

@solo_onono @Sudhirntv Suspects are convicted based on evidence
secondly, Mathew's issue was settled out of court on a bigger part
English

@AmbroseEmuron @Sudhirntv If the wage for killing is death penalty, let it be uniform. Why sentenced some to short prison services and others are sentenced to death....
English

@solo_onono @Sudhirntv He was acquitted long time ago, guy served his sentence & later released

Both Okello Onyum and Mathew Kanyamunyu killed. The one who killed for fun was set free while that with mental illness is prosecuted... Ugandas' justice is not blind, it is subjective

BREAKING: The High Court has sentenced Christopher Okello Onyum to death after convicting him on four counts of murder at the Ggaba Early Childhood Development Daycare Centre. #NBSUpdates

@KomugishaPeace Okello's case vs Mathew Kanyamunyu's
All killed but their judgments differ... one with mental health issue is sentenced whereas the one who killed for fun is free now...
English

@AtaroSarah @nbstv If the wage of sin is death, then why is Mathew Kanyamunyu walking freely in the street of Kampala??
English

@nbstv The wages of Sin is Death.
Anyway he looks death already. Unfortunately the young innocent Children he murdered won't come back.
The most painful part, he is not Remorseful 😥
