
The Acting Minister of Labour and Social Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, who is also the Deputy Minister of the @SomaliaMolsa, Hon. Amina Hussein Ali, today took part in a highly successful and well-attended International Labour Day commemoration, organised by the Federation of Somali Trade Unions (@festusomalia) with support from the International Labour Organization (@ILO).
The event brought together over 1,000 workers' representatives, government officials and social partners in a strong demonstration of shared commitment to advancing a decent work agenda. It highlighted the central role of workers in sustainable development and reinforced the importance of promoting and protecting fundamental principles and rights at work, including freedom of association, dignity and equality. The discussions further underscored growing momentum towards investment in employment-intensive job creation for decent work and inclusive labour market development.
Hon. Amina reaffirmed the government’s firm commitment to strengthening the implementation of labour legislation in line with international labour standards and to advancing policies that support decent work and expanded employment opportunities. She also commended the active and constructive role of workers’ organisations affiliated with FESTU in promoting effective social dialogue and collaboration with government and employers to deliver tangible progress in job creation, skills development and the protection of workers’ rights.
