Yes, he dealt with a lot of shit being the first openly gay congressman and he stood his ground. On the other hand, that should have made him sympathetic to the struggles trans people faced then and still face today.

I like this movie. It's equal parts fun and bad and the epitome of 90s blockbuster excess. It's precisely what an AMERICAN Godzilla movie would be in 1998. Hell, they even shot in NYC. Today it's all the Volume.
