@valuball @SwedishRumble With all due respect, the accounts may say 450m on wages but in no universe either known or unknown are Liverpool paying Dominik Szoboszlai £450,000 a week 😳 I want to see a payslip 😄

The interesting part about the reactions in here - it might be more😬. This is based on Liverpools £427m on wages in 2024/25 - there’s a chance once we have annual accounts for 25/26 that there’s an additional 20-30m to redistribute across that squad. Most have estimates of their wages being around the £440-450m in wages for 25/26 Once accounts are released we will recalibrate.

How much will Liverpool pay Szoboszlai? This is their top 5 according to @valuball — which really is the only credible source for football player wages: Can’t see Szoboszlai getting less than 450k a week. He is their best player.

Qatar has reportedly blocked a proposed partnership between Volkswagen and Israeli defense company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems to manufacture components for the Iron Dome missile-defense system at Volkswagen's Osnabrück plant in Germany. The Qatar Investment Authority, which owns 10.4% of Volkswagen and controls about 17% of its voting rights, opposed the deal because the partner was an Israeli company. The project could have helped save around 2,300 jobs at the Osnabrück factory, where vehicle production is scheduled to end in 2027. Volkswagen confirmed that its Qatari shareholder blocked the proposed cooperation and said it is now exploring alternative partnerships for the site. A separate $4.2 billion plan for German shipping giant Hapag-Lloyd to acquire Israeli shipping company ZIM is also unlikely to proceed. In that case, Israeli officials opposed the sale, arguing it could put a strategically important national asset at risk during a national emergency. Defense Minister Israel Katz said the sale "would not protect Israel's security interests." Hapag-Lloyd has significant Gulf state shareholders: Qatar's sovereign wealth fund owns 12.3%, and Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund owns 10.2%.

@mirjam_bron @visegrad24 Look at your brain. If 17% is the highest overall percentage, what do you think 😑 Also the ethical question is about supporting genocide, not foreign investors 🙃

@visegrad24 So, with only 17% of voting capacity, Qatar can block a multinational company from saving 2300 German jobs? How is that allowed? Also, this poses an ethical question: should western Companies take Islamic investments when this endangers the prosperity of their nations?

I don’t understand how LB cannot be the second priority after CM? 🔺We have four players who can play fullback: Shaw Dorgu Mazraoui Dalot Dorgu is coming off a serious hamstring injury. Shaw has never been healthy, and is a much better fit at CB at his current age. Mazraoui has also had his fair share of knocks. Dorgu is still very young and has looked pretty raw at LB. 🔺I really rate Harry Amass. There is a lot of talk about Thwaits, Lacey and co — but having proved that he can be a goto player for a club in the Championship and having that experience puts Amass head and shoulders above the rest in terms of readiness for the PL. That is a very tough challenge that many top young players fail to pass. With that said — I am not sure how well Amass even fits what we need at LB? I mean, he is great on the ball. Very tidy. But will we be able to play keep away with the ball and never defend? 🔺I would love to have an athletic monster at LB. Someone who can invert into the defensive midfield and help our CM out. A Kyle Walker type at LB would definitely make a lot of sense. Or someone who is more like Hincapie and Calafiori at Arsenal. As things is now — it could very well turn into a real weak area for us next season. Shaw has been available for like 40% of the games the last 8 years or whatever. If we overplay him just a little bit — he could easily be out for 6 months. That leaves us with 3, Dalot, Dorgu and Mazraoui. I was questioning Carrick not taking off Dorgu early before he got his hamstring injury. When he plays 90 minutes and have run a lot — he looks like a hamstring injury waiting to happen. Love and behold, he got a serious one last season after just playing what 3-4 straight games. Play those 3 a lot with little rotation — all of a sudden another one goes down. Then you only have two options which means no rotation and the risk of the two remaining also being injured is increased exponentially. 🔺Many replies to the need for a LB with a reference to Mazraoui also being able to play there. And sure, he can do that. But remember that the World Cup is a lot slower than the PL. He will be challenged a lot more at LB, be given less time. Dalot can also play LB — but gives up a penalty kick every other game he plays there. But even so — if we are playing Mazraoui at LB, we need another RB. 100%. You need 4 full backs who can be expected to carry a heavy load to survive playing both in the PL and the CL. Shaw is at most 0.4/1 in this context. Dorgu is maybe a 0.6. We need another full back.

Before VAR, refs got most decisions right, some wrong. There were others people didn't like but tolerated. Everyone assumed VAR would always give decisions they like. Now VAR corrects most errors. But there are still decisions people do not like. And they find that intolerable

A foreigner blocks the road in San Benedetto del Tronto in Italy. Giuseppe walks up to him, trying to convince him to get off the road. As the man refuses, Giuseppe finishes his ice cream before removing the man from the street by force. Giuseppe is running for Mayor of San Benedetto del Tronto this year and is in the middle of his electoral campaign. It’s unclear whether he will rise or fall in opinion polls after this incident.
