You’ve been the absolute foundation of this game. The highest of highs it’s ever been. Setting an unbeatable reputation of your engagement with your community unlike most other games. It’s been a pleasure working on some projects alongside you and the @RustoriaServers team with those OG twitch events. You’re a real one 🤝
Alistair McFarlane@Alistair_McF

I hadn’t planned to share this quite so soon, but you guys are observant. Today was my final day at @FcpnchStds working on @playrust. Nearly thirteen years ago, I discovered a game called Rust. Nearly eleven years ago, I was given the incredible opportunity to work on it by @garrynewman and @Helkus I joined Facepunch from the community and worked my way up to COO and Executive Producer on Rust, originally from QA. Today, I’m stepping away and returning to where I started: as part of the community. Rust and Facepunch have consumed a huge part of my life. I’ve loved it, fought for it and given it everything I had. Leaving has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made, but I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved. I've live my 10 year old dream. Rust has one of the best development teams in the industry. For more than a decade, they’ve delivered monthly updates without fail, constantly improving, experimenting and pushing the game forwards. I’m proud of the culture we built and the legacy I leave behind. Rust is currently reaching some of the highest numbers in its 13 year history across multiple platforms. Rust Mobile is also well underway, and I’m incredibly proud to have worked so closely with that team and helped bring Rust to an entirely new audience. It's not always easy running a game of this scale, but I fucking loved it. Rust has made gaming history. None of this would exist without the community. A game is nothing without the people who play it, support it, create content around it, run servers, make mods, report issues and continue play. You’ve challenged us, frustrated us, inspired us and helped shape Rust into what it is today. I’ll always be grateful for that. Looking at you /r/playrust - you're a confusing bunch. I don’t have another job or some big new adventure lined up, but I can't wait to see what next sparks my passion. The years I dedicated to Rust inevitably took time away from other parts of my life. Now it’s time to give some of that time back into the areas I sacrificed. Thank you to everyone at Facepunch, our partners, the creators, server owners, admins, modders, mappers, [you] and the tens millions of players who made this journey possible. I’ll still be around. Just back in the community where it all began. 🫡 It's being a wild ride. 🩷🩷🩷

@Oblivion_OnX Honestly I’ve dialed back my soda the last few years. I am a sucker for caffeine tho so I do drink coffee and use those Celsius packets 😬 in addition to preworkout

My Role at Enginefall has unfortunately been made redundant as they make leeway for a delayed release. I was apart of a talented team which generated nearly 500K Wishlists, which I’m incredibly proud of! It’ll be the first time in my Streaming career I’m officially full time - I’ll be balancing Kick (GTARP) & Twitch (Variety & FPS) So if you see me live would be dope to catch up ❤️

Got an invention idea: a shirt that is soaked in sunscreen so you put it on and then take it off and then you have sunscreen on your whole body. You'd keep it in some kind of plastic bag with the cream in it. This means people who are on their own can put suncream on their back without asking a stranger to do it.

I would agree with this take had I not ever make any 1:1 items or if not considering game replicas as a niche market. However I think their price point is more than fair (not paid to say this). If you were to commission either of those to be made or sourced you’d definitely spend more money. Additionally anything that’s hyper niche comes with a cost. Game replicas are no exception. You cannot go to Walmart or Amazon and buy a 1:1 rust backpack or boots, hence the price point being what it is. Yes you could buy much cheaper backpacks, but they won’t match the game and they’ll likely be the cheaper material as well. If I were to make and sell any full size props I certainly would have charged a lot more than 250 considering the time/cost that would go into it. (Hence why I don’t and just use for my own props since I enjoy the hobby) Thx for coming to my ted talk
Oblivion@Oblivion_OnX

Would be nice if FacePunch used more reasonably priced companies to collab with for Rust. I fully support the ideas, but we have now seen $230USD for a backpack and $200 USD for Frog Wellies by people who made stuff for the Royal Family. All of which can be outsourced for cheaper

@sometimes_lone Yes, but we aren't talking about a person pouring their blood sweat and tears into a product. It's just a company selling a backpack that costed them probably less than 20 bucks to produce, to people they know they can 10x the price to. You aren't honorable for bootlicking.

@sometimes_lone I love this backpack, however it is extremely expensive. And unfortunately as much as I would love one I just can’t afford it currently. It isn’t made by a singular person, who has tirelessly worked and spent hours on it. It’s been crafted and made by a company. It’s a shame.
