A Technical Autopsy etherscan.io/tx/0x9fa9feab3… Yesterday, a user swapped $50M USDT for AAVE through the Aave interface. They received 324 AAVE worth ~$36,100. A checkbox warning was shown. They ticked it. The trade executed. $49.96M is gone forever. This is the latest (it won't be the last time) largest single trade loss in DeFi history. Here's what it tells us. This user knew Binance. They knew its liquidity. When they moved to DeFi, the same protection simply wasn't there. On chain data shows this wallet had withdrawn the $50.4M USDT from Binance ~20 days before the trade. The numbers first, 99.9%: Value lost $73K: Pool liquidity $44M+: Captured by MEV bots $600K: Refunded (fees only)🤧 The technical reality, this wasn't a bug. The SushiSwap AAVE/USDT pool held ~$73K in liquidity. A $50M market order hitting a $73K pool produces 99% price impact mathematically inevitable. Aave's engineer confirmed, It worked as designed. ((Design protects the user with a checkbox. 🥴))DeFi's permissionless nature is a feature, not a flaw. But a checkbox is not user protection. Until then, for large positions, go where liquidity lives. Because Funds are SAFU.
