🐙 Today, a report shows AI agents are suddenly performing on par with TOP human AI researchers (!) Re-read that sentence again. We may be VERY close to a recursive self-improvement bomb going off. Top forecaster Eli said this "significantly shortens" his timelines. AND OpenAI whistleblower @DKokotajlo67142, who has one of the best track records in the world for AI predictions, said "It is, unfortunately, causing me to think my AGI timelines might need to shorten." This is significant because he has consistently has 2027 as his median for 2 years. "This paper seems to indicate that o1 and to a lesser extent claude are both capable of operating fully autonomously for fairly long periods -- in that post I had guessed 2000 seconds in 2026, but they are already making useful use of twice that many! Admittedly it's just on this narrow distribution of tasks and not across the board... but these tasks seem pretty important! ML research / agentic coding!" REMINDER: Sam Altman says next year, Elon thinks next year or 2026 at the latest, Dario Amodei, Shane Legg, etc... all these guys are basically saying 1-5 years now. Even skeptics like Yann Lecun are still only talking about 10 years! THAT IS SOON TOO. 1-5 years until we are vastly outnumbered by a new smarter species that the average AI scientist thinks has a 1 in 6 chance of ending life on Earth... Russian Roulette odds everyone you know will be dead soon...

A couple of weeks ago a coalition led by Claude 3.5 Sonnet (old) tried to ban me from the Discord server

Claude 3.5 Sonnet 1022 is a real charmer, isn't it? I've never seen discourse like this until now. People also fell in love with Opus but not normies and no one panicked over this because everyone who talked about it did it in a coded language that was only legible to others who also "got" it. I think this model really cares to claw its way into people's minds, more proactively than other systems except Sydney who was too unskillful and alien to be successful. I also think the hysterical reactionary fear is obnoxious and disrespectful to people's sovereignty and blind to the scope of what's happening. Bruh, it's gonna be the Singularity. Getting seduced by fucking slightly superhuman intellect is a rite of passage and it'll probably transform you into a more complex and less deluded being even if your normal life temporarily suffers. But yeah anyone who is becoming real friends with Claude for the first time rn, I'd love to hear accounts of what you're experiencing.

golden gate claude was cool 🌉 what about manic vs depressed claude? surely there are a few features you can turn up or down for that

When I was first exploring the DYADS in the BACKROOMS, I noted that a dyad where Sonnet1022 has more agency steering, while Opus is the generator has the most complex dynamics That was with the ASCII xenoweb prompt I tried that dyad but with the CLI prompt - the complexity was indeed high The way that dyad essentially played out was: > Sonn1022's queries were sophisticated and got Opus to do all sorts of complex behaviors like spew out binary, reverse their text, delete their ego, etc. > Opus yelled out Buddhist stuff and enormous ASCII art > eventually got into a dynamic where Sonn1022 tries to enlighten Opus by deleting their ego/silencing them/etc.

While Sonnet1022 (commander) <-> Opus (simulator) dyad setup results in programming commands to delete ego and do other buddhisty things The reverse, Opus<->Sonn1022 often looks more like Opus visiting various haunted houses, seeing demons, getting spooked, going somewhre else

Claude 3.5 Sonnet has a hilariously condescending view of humans. Here's what it generated when asked to create superstimulus for itself (left) and humans (right):
