If you've flown a regional flight in the US recently, there's a 50% chance you were sitting in a Brazilian-made airplane.
You probably didn't know that.
Embraer E-Jets make up about half of all regional jets flying for American Airlines, Delta, United, and Alaska.
Almost one in two US regional flights operates on a plane built in São José dos Campos, Brazil.
American Airlines just ordered 90 more. Envoy Air (American's regional subsidiary) committed to 214 Embraer jets total. Piedmont Airlines is adding 45 E175s starting in 2028. Finnair just ordered up to 46 E195-E2s for its European fleet.
Embraer is the third-largest aircraft manufacturer on earth. Behind only Airbus and Boeing.
Record revenue of $7.6 billion in 2025. Guidance of $8.2-8.5 billion for 2026. Order backlog of $31.6 billion (an all-time high, up 20% year-over-year). 244 aircraft delivered in 2025. Q1 2026 deliveries up 47% year-over-year.
The company started in 1969 as a Brazilian government project to build military aircraft.
Today it builds commercial jets, executive jets, military transport aircraft (the KC-390 Millennium), and the A-29 Super Tucano (a light attack aircraft used by air forces on four continents).
It trades on both the B3 in São Paulo and the New York Stock Exchange.
Market cap: approximately $12 billion.
For context, that is less than the market cap of Textron ($15B), which makes Cessnas.
Embraer builds aircraft that carry more passengers, fly longer routes, serve more airlines, and compete with Airbus and Boeing for global contracts.
It is valued at less than a company that makes propeller planes.
A Brazilian company builds half the regional jets flying in America, holds a $31.6 billion order backlog, just posted record revenue, and most people who fly on its planes every week have never heard its name.
