Thanks for fine tuning the table. There is a catch, though. The increase proposed in the 103rd Amendment Bill is not 50% but 56.6% (from 543 to 850) and in the case of states it’s 55.5% (from 524 to 815). That’s why I calculate gains and losses with these proportions, not 50%.

The southern blockade is real and devastating. But "completely halted all trade" only holds if you ignore the backdoor that Russia is keeping wide open.

The Prime Minister is a so-called Leader whose only distinguishing feature is his unmatched ability to be a Misleader. He is a habitual liar who cannot speak the truth, even by mistake. He has engaged in deliberate deceit with the nation over the question of delimitation. The Bills that his Government has circulated for the special session of Parliament contradict all the so-called assurances that he has been giving. The southern states will lose their strength in the Lok Sabha and so will smaller states in northwest India and states in the east. What happened to the uniform proportionate increase of strength in the Lok Sabha for all states - that was promised by the PM and some of his colleagues? That has not happened. The PM’s assurances cannot be trusted. He is unable to rise beyond his crude power-grabbing impulses and be a statesman - even on an issue as sensitive as delimitation. The Bills were uploaded on Dr. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary. The delimitation provisions are an insult to his legacy and a reflection of his warning - delivered in the Constituent Assembly on November 25, 1949 - about the dangers of a government that isn’t guided by constitutional morality.

The Modi Government is rushing delimitation using the 2011 Census of India but why now, when a fresh census is due before 2027? Because this isn’t reform. It’s punishment. States that controlled population, invested in human development, and governed better especially in the South are about to lose representation. Meanwhile, failure gets rewarded with more seats. So what’s the message? Perform well and lose your voice? Every political party, especially in southern states, must oppose this. Stay silent today, and tomorrow you’ll represent a state with shrinking power, reduced voice, and diminished relevance in Parliament. Delimitation should be about fairness, not a political shortcut to tilt the balance of power.

The delimitation commission is guaranteed to be as fair as the election commission
