Catch your students doing well and TELL THEM. Most students have never had a prof email them to 👏 their participation/class contributions. I try to do this 3x per class the first few classes. It pays dividends! Those students 3x eager next class, they lead & bring others along.

@ievaju Spend some time thinking about when/whether you need to mask identities beforehand - and promise this as little as possible (both to informants and the IRB!) - u can always increase anonymity at the write-up stage, but you will lose color & context if you over promise anonymity
