🚨Thierry Henry on Cristiano Ronaldo tears after winning the Saudi Pro League:
🗣️ “ People see Cristiano Ronaldo crying after winning the Saudi Pro League and some laugh because of where he is playing now. But for me, that moment explains exactly why he became one of the greatest athletes we have ever seen.
This is a player who has already conquered football. Champions Leagues, Ballon d’Ors, league titles in England, Spain and Italy, international trophies with Portugal… there is literally nothing left for him to prove to anyone.
Yet at 41 years old, he is still celebrating victories with the same emotion, the same fire and the same obsession he had when he was a teenager at Sporting Lisbon. That is not normal. Most players lose that hunger after winning one or two major trophies. Cristiano never lost it.
People always talk about talent, but mentality is what truly separates legends from great players. Cristiano trained like every season was his last chance. He treated every game like it mattered. That is why he stayed at the top for almost 20 years while generations of players came and disappeared.
To still have that level of passion at his age, after everything he has achieved, is honestly unbelievable. It tells young players that greatness is not only about ability, it is about sacrifice, discipline, consistency and refusing to ever become comfortable.
You can love him or hate him, but you have to respect that mentality. Football may never see another competitor like Cristiano Ronaldo again...”

@FbPippin9 @sot416 @RTNToronto If it was a nationality that was at least common here like the potential for having a Canada vs Italy game in Toronto I could agree with you. But Iraqis aren't not even close to being also common nationality. For context the city of Toronto has more Brazilians than Iraqis
English

@sot416 @RTNToronto Huge Iraqi community in the GTA you’ll see that game will be more sold out then the Canada one

I was saying this back in February.
Now the Parliamentary Budget Officer is confirming it.
Canada is expected to spend over $1 BILLION to host 13 World Cup matches.
That’s more than $82 million per game.
Officials claim tourism and economic activity will justify the cost.
Okay then. Where’s the full cost benefit analysis?
Where’s the final net revenue projection after security, infrastructure, tax exemptions, and overruns?
At a time of rising debt, strained hospitals, weak per capita growth, and high youth unemployment, taxpayers deserve more than “trust us.”
Shazi@ShaziGoalie
Canada is spending $1B for 13 matches out of 104. That’s roughly $77 million per game. For 90 minutes of 2026 World Cup soccer. While ER wait times grow, youth unemployment rises, and GDP per capita keeps falling 🇨🇦

WILD.
Hotels across multiple 2026 FIFA World Cup host cities are reportedly seeing major room cancellations from FIFA itself.
According to the AHLA, up to 70% of FIFA-reserved hotel rooms in Boston, Dallas, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Seattle have been released back into the market.
The hotel industry says FIFA’s early block bookings created “artificial demand” that inflated prices and distorted expectations ahead of the tournament.
Now, with just weeks until kickoff, some hotels fear the expected World Cup tourism boom may fall short.

Hosting the FIFA World Cup will cost Canadian taxpayers $1B — around $82M per game, per report by parliamentary budget officer. 🇨🇦💰 #CanMNT
Toronto’s 6 games will cost $380M when all is said and done.
PBO says this is lower than what other hosts paid in previous tournaments.
