It was such an honour to attend the Northern Ireland Covid-19 Day of Reflection 2026 and to take time to remember the approximately 17,000 who passed away during that time. The event not only commemorated and remembered all those loved ones who passed away from Covid-19 but others too that due to the COVID restistrictions did not have their loved ones with them, nor did their family and friends get the opportunity for a normal wake, funeral or remembrance service. The continued grief of this time has had a huge impact on the lives of so many. This was a beautiful event today. It was lovely to speak to so many at the event, to hear the lovely music and song and to see the remembrance stones. Well done to all the organisers and participants. Much needed and much appreciated.

John Healey was humiliated on the media this morning because the PM can’t make a decision. There are legitimate arguments to support the military action against Iran, and legitimate arguments to oppose it (which I don’t agree with). It’s not legitimate to have no position. The job of the Prime Minister is mainly about making difficult decisions, effectively communicating those decisions, and ensuring the decisions get implemented. Starmer seems incapable of any of those functions.
