Arsenal in the 2000s played at a tempo few could match, their passing rhythm among the fastest in Premier League history, with decision making far quicker than the average midfield benchmark. The Henry Pires Bergkamp front three, backed by Vieira, Gilberto, Campbell, and Lauren, cut the space for defenders, slowing recovery runs and compressing time on the ball. Their pressing snapped from defence into attack within split seconds, turning Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool into highlight reels. Across three titles, the 2003/04 Invincibles, and dominance over Spurs, that blend of vision, circulation, and movement made them almost untouchable arguably the quickest, most fluid team in English football history.

When Steve Bould was at Arsenal, the lads needed something to do on the coach back from Newcastle.
So they came up with an eating contest.
The food on Arsenal’s away coach was not exactly a sandwich and a packet of crisps either.
There were waiters on there.
And, if they had won, plenty of lager as well.
So the contest starts and Steve Bould does what Steve Bould always did.
He just keeps going.
Prawn cocktails.
Soup.
Salmon.
Roast chicken.
Lasagnes.
Apple pies.
Cheese and biscuits.
Can after can of lager on top of it.
By the end of it Bouldy has eaten nine dinners.
The others are finished long before that.
Some of them are being sick outside the coach.
So they have to stop the competition.
Merson reckoned by the time the coach got back to the training ground, the rest of them would fall off it and he would need their missus to come and pick him up.
Bouldy looked fresh as a daisy.
“He probably stopped for a curry on the way home.”
