It’s been an honor of a lifetime to have been invited to be a part of this iconic franchise and collaborating with my good friend Fede Álvarez on the score for ALIEN: ROMULUS was beyond inspiring. He wanted to push all the limits whilst still writing a love letter to the groundbreaking scores Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner and Elliot Goldenthal wrote for franchise, all of which had such a huge impact on me as a kid. I’ve loved the Alien movies for as long as I can remember. So many incredible musicians contributed so much to these recordings and I’m very excited to be able to share all this work with you now with today’s soundtrack album release! A huge thank you to Fede Álvarez, Danielle Diego, Patrick Houlihan and everyone at 20th Century Studios and the wonderful team at Hollywood Records. @jeffschmidt @GiganticCranium @fabfilter Yep! Because it just analyses the character of the reverb sample and recreates it using algorithmic reverb rather than convolution. So it’s not an exact replication like convolution would be, but in my experience so far it really nails the “feel” of the reverb sample.

For the film MADAGASCAR 3, a bunch of us on the sound editing crew recorded our version of the Wilhelm scream, after carefully listening to the original recording, but named them after each person, “Mac-helm”, “Jon-helm”, “Will-helm” (@sounddroid), etc.

One of the most recognizable sound effects ever. Ben Burtt resurrected it for the original STAR WARS film in ‘77 & then it became an inside joke between him & supervising sound editor Richard Anderson. But did you know that for decades no one knew who voiced the famous scream? 🧵
