@regalada_llaga@choiminhodiet Kids are smart, and they absorb things much more than adults give them credit for. Approaching it from a “Bodies are SO cool, let’s talk about how food fuels us!” perspective, takes the fear-mongering and diet culture out of the picture.
my younger cousin is starting to innocently ask about calories and nutrition, she ate seaweed today and noticed it only had 10 calories and told me. i tried to keep it neutral & said yes that means it just doesn’t give you a lot of energy, that’s why a lot of people +
@choiminhodiet Of course! You can even talk about macros:
Carbohydrates: our brains use for FAST energy. Proteins: get broken down into blocks/Legos that our body needs to repair itself and grow! Fats: help us absorb vitamins, protect our organs, and because they’re SO complex, we stay full!
@choiminhodiet Keep it scientific. A calorie is just how much energy the food gives us. We all need energy to run, jump, and play. Some food has LOTS of vitamins for our brains and muscles, and not so much energy; some food has LOTS of energy but not as much vitamins to help us grow. Balance!
Uhh so like..would i be ok to try a chaga/reishi brownie since I'm on prozac? Google says no but I can't find any reliable sources or studies about interactions. Google says blood thinning, interactions with kidney and liver functions and possibly affects on serotonin.
@blackberrycals@dietsodalover Agreed! I would track fiber and protein only, while focusing on minimizing salt or added sugar if those are issues for you
@dedgirlwalking0 That’s far from a burger bowl, love. It looks like a shitty unseasoned bowl that taste like shit. It would be better to just give this to the house cat or dog
You ever have a dream you have to emotionally recover from??
Mine last night was being told I need a radical hysterectomy and then maybe chemo, as my biopsy came back suspicious for ovarian cancer.
I kept crying about school, needing to take time off, fertility, everything
