what if near Erid Grace becomes so sick the only way Rocky thinks it makes sense to protect him is to put him back in an induced coma. its not a decision made lightly since to Eridians inducing sleep (aka paralyzing) is sth deserving of imprisonment

@SaturnWidow in my mind no not in person, to make it more Angst. what he does is leaves him a small video recording on the laptop that Rocky only finds after Grace leaves for Maximum Pain Potential. Rocky was never able to truly apologize with the full knowledge and weight of what he'd done

genuinely, truly cannot emphasize how much i dont want a phm sequel because rn it ends happily and i KNOW the sequel would include grace's inevitable death and i cannot handle that in canon actually thank you. grace lives forever and ever with rocky and adrian and his students!!

ok yes i've decided this should end with Rocky letting Grace go--he stays away from Grace as much as possible and fixes the Mary, gives up trying to talk to him when Grace clearly wants noting to do with him. years pass and he finally tells Grace he can go back to Earth now +

This would be a super fun horror AU to play with.
Imagining something horrific took place on the journey back, and Grace’s trust in Rocky was shattered, but then he’s stuck on a planet with someone he no longer feels he knows or trusts and is completely alone

As a human being, isn’t Ryland Grace’s ending a bit like a psychological horror? imagine if he and Rocky didn’t love and trust each other as much…he is essentially trapped in a dome, isolated where his life is entirely on hand of a bunch of aliens
