Note that the story references the likely closure of Goddard Space Flight Center. However other centers, including the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, would be at grave risk. These cuts threaten NASA's entire science portfolio across several centers.

A 47% cut to NASA Science.
This could mean entire closure of NASA facilities in various states.
This seems to shift NASA's sole focus to human exploration.
But I don't want American flags on the Moon/Mars if it means giving up the rest of the universe.

I completely understand. When one of the biggest voices in the Spaceflight community is constantly politicizing things, all he’s really doing is dividing people. The same thing would happen is say Tim Cook or RJ Scaringe or any other CEO made their entire social presence about politics instead of their products, people who don’t agree will be turned off. That’s definitely not why I ever followed Elon, and as someone who’s here for Spaceflight, it very much distracts from what I care about. And that appears to translate to excitement about Spaceflight / specifically starship in general. I miss when I got on here to gleam details about Raptor of Starship and instead it feels like an uncle’s Facebook feed.

FCC document notes that Starship Flight 9 (after the upcoming launch) has the option of Ship returning to the launch site for a catch. Although unconfirmed by SpaceX, Flight 9 has the potential of reflying Booster 14, with Ship 35, and both returning to the launch site, with Booster returning to Pad A and Ship to Pad B. apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/els/repo…

@JohnSostrom Yup, hopefully that’s the case. It’s quite unclear what he means so will be interesting to see what happens and if NASA comment at all.

@spacex360 I doubt that he is. It is just that for a structure that large, it will take a lot of planning to make it happen in such a way as to reduce the chance of anything going wrong to as near zero as you can get it. Space is hard, whether you are going up or coming down.
