'June in Bed.' (1952) Patrick George was a figure painter of distilled emotion and intelligence who enjoyed a considerable following among his fellow artists especially Euan Uglow. It might be said Uglow's reputation stole some of George's thunder.

This view by Lily Joseph was painted from her studio in Bedford Row looking towards St Paul's Cathedral in London. She didn't attend the private view of her 1912 exhibition; she was in Holloway Prison after being arrested for taking part in a women's suffrage rally.

'Still life.' (1942) This coming January, to mark its 25th anniversary, the Estorick Collection is presenting an exhibition of work by Giorgio Morandi and will include oil paintings, watercolours and prints. The show runs from 6th January until 30th April 2023.
