@phronk How many people are going to get a surprise $50 charge in the next couple of days? I typically will cancel a trial immediately, but I'm sure most people forgot about it.

@spaetzel Oooh that’s even worse. I’m not opposed to paying for amazing technology (which this is!), but the privacy and ownership concerns on top of the price make it a big nope for me.

How do so many people have those AI avatars? I tried it and the app asked for both my phone number and money. I’ll gladly give my personal info to foreign spies OR pay five dollars for some unethical digital trinket, but not both.

@phronk What I saw what a $50/yr subscription (with a week long trial) and then $5 immediately to do the selfie generation thing. AFAIK there's no way to get further into the app without starting that subscription. I stopped when it wanted the $5

@spaetzel I think there’s a free trial, but it signs you up for a MONTHLY subscription, which is too much for a simple image editing app.

@melle @rawsharktext We’ve got a masher, but I usually use the electric hand mixer to do the mashing.

The one thing I consistently forget when I move homes is … a goddamn potato masher.
