You could take to mean gender as in gender identity. So it makes sense no? If a female to male identifies as a gay man, that doesn’t mean gay men will be attracted to someone. Sexuality is determined not by their partner’s or prospective partner’s gender identity, but of their sex. Or if you’re a guy and your girlfriend comes out as trans and identifies as a man, that doesn’t suddenly make you gay.

We got jobs when we were teens .. we rarely went out to eat .. we didn’t have credit cards or car payments, we drove clunkers .. we bought small homes with 1 bath and we went to church on Sunday .. I bought my first house in 1980 and interest was 14% … it wasn’t easy and we worked hard and didn’t expect nothing from the Govnmt .. and all these years later we are still not rich …

There's not much sound in the Duolingo Hebrew module like there is for other languages, and very little time before you're dropped into being expected to read the script. They also don't teach the handwriting script. With Rosen, you have an instructor on Zoom in a small class, with tutoring options. It still goes kind of fast, but you have help. I recommend getting the workbooks, and maybe a package where you can repeat the classes if you didn't get it the first time. I find it very challenging as a native English speaker. But by the time you get most of the way through Ulpan 1, Duolingo becomes useful as a supplement to help you study because you know the script better.

We’re talking about emigrating - but jobs + family make it tricky. 1 thing is certain: our kids won’t build their lives in the UK. A whole generation has watched whats happened across Europe, and I think in 50 years few Jews will remain. History has a way of repeating itself.

@JohnPaulDetriot @IsraMum @skedeschi Absolutely! I’ve finished their Ulpan I class, and am looking forward to continuing. Strong recommend. Duolingo’s Hebrew course is … disappointing, and I had to get a ways through the Ulpan class before I could make use of it to any degree as extra practice.

Everyone in the area it covers has access to the Haztzola ambulance service, the same as the St John’s ambulance service. They don’t check a patients religion before providing emergency treatment and care and transferring them to the nearest ER. 50% of Golders Green residents are non Jewish. This means 50% of the community that has access to the Hatzola service aren’t Jewish and this doesn’t include all the non Jews passing through or visiting the area who might find themselves in need of an ambulance. An ambulance service is an asset to the community it operates in. No reasonable minded tax payer would mind their hard earned cash going towards funding an ambulance service that’s there to save lives. It’s a safety net that’s proven to work. What on earth is wrong with you? How do you think NHS ambulances are paid for? They do the same job as Hatzola and St John’s ambulance. They all work together to serve the community. I guarantee if you were visiting or passing through Golders Green and were involved in a serious RTA or collapsed in the street you wouldn’t turn an Hatzola ambulance and paramedic away!
