@Klipticmusic Solid point. I hate the feeling of art being reduced to disingenuous “content”. Unfortunately, I feel like the scrolling algorithmic instant dopamine formula is so engrained online, that Tik Tok would be replaced or IG Reels would take up the mantle entirely.

If Tik Tok actually gets banned next month that will be a giant W for moving our scene back in the right direction. I can appreciate the free self promo aspect but the quality of music decreased.

Ever wonder why your feed seems so dominated by toxic negativity? Seeing negativity spread like a cancer all across this app each time I open it has become commonplace. For me specifically, I mostly see it in the electronic music sphere aka “EDM Twitter” This app is designed to boost posts that are provocative and cause the most outrage which plays off social brainwashing and tribal-like instincts to increase user engagement, thus increasing profits for the shareholders. Wildly enough, 10% of all Twitter/X users are responsible for 92% of posts on the platform. So in order to not lose all faith in the music scene I love, I have to remind myself that the vast majority of people in it are genuine decent human beings who don’t appeal to the algorithm or simply stay away from toxicity online in general. I hope this eases your mind a little as you scroll. Remeber to drink water, do your best, and love one another. 🖤

I guess I just despise the pursuit of success for success’s sake. I despise seeing people who don’t truly care about the art speak the loudest. I used to think “hey that’s just the music industry!” but idk man if that’s the music industry I don’t really care about making it

idk maybe i’m in the wrong here but I think being an artist or having a platform of any kind means that you should hold your art and yourself to a higher standard. go above and beyond even if it means standing alone. otherwise what’s the point?

@spectersounds God, I went through bed bugs like 10 years ago and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. Fuck those things. Diatomaceous earth and a steam cleaner are going to become your best friends. I hope they pay for an exterminator to come in and handle it for you.

So my apartment building has bed bugs and I discovered 2 in my unit this morning and one of them WAS CRAWLING ON ME Time to go to war.

One of the reasons for my depression getting out of control this past year was the creeping realization that we live in an age of content. I’ve struggled to find meaning in sharing my art because it’s immediately reduced to “content” that must appeal to an algorithm to be heard. This, along with increasing self-doubt and the withering of a local community, led me to feel that my art was becoming pointless. Pushing through these feelings, I continued to work on music, only to feel disappointed and beat myself up for doing something I enjoy; worried about how it would be perceived. I’d ask myself “Would people actually like this?” “Should I run ads?” “What trend can I apply this song to?” I was no longer writing music for me. So basically fuck all that. I am learning how to write music for myself again. If I create “content” it’ll be because I wanted to. I wanted to write this post out of transparency because I’m tired of feeling like I need to act as if I have this all figured out. I just enjoy making bleep bloops, and that’s enough for me. For those who’ve supported me, it means more than you know and I am so grateful. And if you’ve been struggling, or feeling this way, you aren’t alone. Thank you 🖤
