As per reports, Arsenal are interested in Georgian youngster Andria Bartishvili, and while I understand the excitement whenever the club is linked with a highly-rated young talent, I genuinely have to ask: is there really a need for this signing when we already have Luis Muñoz in the academy? From what I've seen, both players share very similar qualities. They are comfortable on the ball, technically gifted, intelligent in tight spaces, and thrive in possession-based football. If Arsenal truly believe Muñoz has the potential many academy watchers claim he has, then shouldn't the focus be on accelerating his development rather than bringing in another youngster occupying a similar profile? One thing I always advocate for is creating a clear pathway from Hale End to the first team. We can't keep talking about trusting the academy and then continuously block talented youngsters with external signings every time a new prospect appears on the market. Of course, if the club believes Bartishvili is significantly better and has a much higher ceiling, that's a different conversation. But if the profiles are largely similar, then I would rather see Arsenal invest those minutes, resources, and development opportunities into Luis Muñoz. Sometimes the best signing is the talent you already have in your own academy.
